2015 Roads Trips

Tentatively leaving July 4 or 5, speed run across country to Glacier National Park pulling camper. Then North to Alaska, camping as many nights as possible. Should be 6, 7, or 8 of us by jumping off time. Figuring on 30 days. Anyone wanting to join us, Welcome.

I'm retired but the wife is still working 3-4 days a week, so we'll keep it mostly to long weekends for this year. The nice thing about that is we can get to a lot of really great rides in just a day or two... Yellowstone & the Beartooth, Glacier & Going to the Sun highway, Lolo Pass, Devil's Canyon, Salmon River, etc.

Our new H-D TriGlide should be here in a day or two, and we expect to put some miles on it this summer. If you're in the Spokane, WA area, you're welcome to ride along.

.....my annual trip to Yuma in April, then we will do the biggie in Aug. to STURGIS, then once again the annual to Street Viberations in Reno.

I used to live just outside Reno. We've done Street Vibrations several times just because it was there, and quite frankly, I don't see the attraction. The only really nice, scenic ride is up and around Lake Tahoe, and you can do that almost ANY time. Pretty much everything else is about drinking and gambling, and since I don't do either, I have no interest in it.

Well this isn't the USA but Spain. We ride at least twice during the week , about 100+ miles through the mountains of The Costa Blanca ( Alicante) Come spring we will be heading up through Spain, over the Pyrenees and up though France to Normandy to visit the WW2 landings and war graves. Awesome site and so sad. Hard to image that so many gave their lives for our freedoms. I was five years old when the Germans bombed our street. Then across the Channel and up to North Wales for some rock climbing. If the weather looks good then up to Scotland and the west coast. This will be a first for the wife. Then all the way back home to Spain. But this time taking a ferry across the Bay of Biscay to Santander and then down through Spain on the minor roads.
Come late summer we, my wife and I (and the MT trike) will be off to the alps and mountain pass storming - French , Swiss, Austrian and Italian alps.

No idea if this will work but it's one Sunday ride here in Spain.

Here, but for the lack of funds, stamina, and a myriad of other lame excuses, go I...:D

I've been through MOST of the cities shown on this map, when I worked as a long-haul trucker for several years. The really sad part about it is that I didn't have the time to stop and visit the attractions... OR if I had the time, there was no place for me to park my 75 foot long 18-wheeler so I could get out and actually enjoy the scenery.

Oh well... ;)

Just set up a trip from Maine to Nova Scotia for the end of June. Will take the trike on the ferry from Portland to Yarmouth NS. Will then ride up to Cape Brenton were we will spend a couple nights and take the 185 mile loop around the island (Cabot Trail). Heading back will make overnight stops in St John NB, and someplace in ME.

This will be my first overnighter with the trike. Anyone have "tips" on do's or don'ts?

I have a friend who is making me an ice chest rack for my trailer hitch receiver so that I can pack drinks and snacks....So, should have a few nice stops along the coast to take in the views, eat and stretch.

Wondering which direction to travel up to Beddeck... Should I take the West Coast along the Bay of Fundy or the East Coast along the Atlantic??

trip

We live in S.E. Missouri. In june we are headed to Gatlinburg for a couple days, down thru Smokey Mt. Park, then up Blue Ridge to the Skyline Dr. then up to Chambersburg, Pa. There is a small fort called Fort McCord that is named after my 5th Great Grandfather. Then over to Gettysburg. Open for other suggestions along this route. Have a safe summer. It is almost here. Dan

The wife and I are heading up to Nova Scotia for about 8 days in June. We will be taking the ferry from Portland, ME to Yarmouth, NS. This is the first time utilizing a B&B for the entire time instead of a hotel. We are also keeping our fingers crossed for good weather and a great time. Then we’re returning home via land route split up in 2 days. Not sure what the rest of the summer holds in store since I’ve retired but the wife is still working. We’ll probably try to keep it relatively local, (within 6 to 10 hours of home), and use the Aspen camper we purchased in 2013 as we only camped with it 3 times.

We are going to NS on the ferry out of Portland on the 23rd of June....when are you going? We will be heading about 7hr drive north to Cape Brenton once of the boat. going to do the loop (Cabot Trail) around the cape and then head back to Maine via New Brunswick, CA. If our travel times jive we could ride together for a bit.

Hi Dennisgar, I wish we had viewed your original post when we made our travel plans. Sorry but we will be leaving NJ on June 10th and be in Yarmouth, NS Thursday morning on June 11th. After taking care of some local business, we will eat breakfast in Yarmouth then head to Truro where our B&B is located. Planning on traveling the Cabot trail Friday and Saturday with an overnight stop approximately mid-point but that is subject to change. Our itinerary is not entirely complete but we're also including the Bay of Fundy, Prince Edward Island and local wineries, weather permitting, along with a good lobster dinner somewhere. We will head back to NJ via land route on June 17[SUP]th[/SUP], with a stopover in Freeport, ME. Be safe on your trip and if we find any other exceptional sights we'll pass them on to you.....Rob and Debbie

I've never taken the ferry but I had a friend who took his Ultra Classic on it and he wasn't happy with the way the bike was strapped down. I'd suggest you bring 2-3 ratchet straps with you and lots of $$$$ for the ferry ride.
