2013 Tri-Glide w/120r Crate Motor

I just purchased a 2013 Tri-Glide and have only 250 miles on the 103" motor. My question is, I have a 2012 120r Crate motor that I removed from my 2008 Ultra prior to trade-in and am considering the installation in the Trike. In the Ultra, the dyno numbers were 128tq/129hp, and I don't know whether that would be excessive for the Trike.

For those of you that have had any experience with this configuration, have you had (or seen) any problems with this much power in the Trike - i.e. problem keeping the front wheel on the ground, braking things, etc.? If I go ahead with the installation, I plan to upgrade the clutch to an variable pressure plate (AIM) which I had in the Ultra but left it in the 2008 when trading it in.

Also, should I possible change the compensator to the SE Compensator?

Any advice from experience will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Roger

There shouldn't be any issues swapping to the 120. Your power output will be lower on your trike compared to your other bike. This is due to parasitic power loss pushing it through your trike rear end.

If you have the 266 SE cams in the 120 they might be a little sluggish from lower rpms with added weight of the trike. That would be the only question I think to ask.

I say go for it. What's the worst that happens? You have to add wheelie bars. And just so you know, those SE compensators only last 25k miles. Replaced mine twice already.

If you decide to swap it out for more power:xzqxz:, and have a problem keeping the front tire on the ground, you can always put a back-fire sw. near where the horn sw. is :D.
Good luck what ever you do;).

I say go for it, no sense in having a perfectly good 120R setting around. Yes you'll be able to pick the front end up, you shouldn't have any drive train issues as long as you don't hammer it to hard to often. As mentioned the Triglide already comes with the SE compensator. Braking shouldn't be an issue under most circumstances.

Thanks to everyone that responded! I have made the decision to go ahead with the 120r, and will be starting the project mid to end of next week. I am planning the Fuel Moto Power Duals, SE A/C, Kuryakn Crusher Slip-Ons, and either the SEPST or the Dynojet Power Vision Tuner.

I have the Power Vision tuner on my V-Rod Muscle and really like it.

Will post results upon completion.

Thanks again for the comments.

I just got done installing a 120R in my 2010 RoadGlide.
I used the PowerVision tuner with the standard autotune.
Dynojet sent me a map to get started. Really like their tech support. These guys answer e-mails in an hour or less during regular business hours.
So far, I only have 50 or so miles on it but am loving it.ThumbUp

I had 120r in my 2008 Ulta for 9k miles and loved it. It was wicked quick from about 3500rpm to 6000rpm. I traded in my Ultra for a 2013 Trike and negotiated to keep the 120r. Also have a 2013 V-Rod Muscle that would give the Ultra a real bad time.

Good luck with your Roadglide, you will love the increased performance.
