2013 Stallion - A few questions...

I am picking up my "new to me" 2013 Stallion this week.

It does need some painting. The body is in wonderful condition, I am simply wanting to change the look.

Because it is a 2013, it is my understanding that the body panels may be a bit easier to remove. If that is the case, how would I go about removing them to get a better result in painting? Do they all remove?

Also, I plan on changing the oil, oil filter, air filter, etc,... what else should I do for my initial maintenance?

Thanks!
Scott

Congrats Scott on the new to you Stallion.
The 2013 year was the last.

Starting sometime in 2009 TBMS switched from the hand laid fiberglass bodies to the plastic molded body. I have never worked on those new bodies so I do not know very much. What I do know is that they say they are easier to work on is because the fit was better with the molded parts vs the hand laid parts. I believe that the parts are glued together and made into the whole body. About the only thing you can do is remove the interior black panels along with the hood and truck lid. The dash instrument panel can be removed along with the windshield. Be careful with the windshield as I hear they only can be replaced by a custom one that costs over 2 grand to have made. The body can be removed from the frame but it is not easy. You might be better off just doing a good job of taping it off for painting.

As far as maintenance depending on the mileage is what you need to do. Possibly hoses, antifreeze, trans fluid with filter, brake pads. A 2007 Ford Ranger manual will guide you there. That's where the drive train was made for by Ford.

In the Stallion forum here search there are several different posting for repairs and fixes. If you run into a problem drop a post here and one of us will try to help.

Great info, thanks!

I sure hope the panels can come off individually.

It only has about 27,000 miles and the brake pads were recently replaced. I do like your suggestion about antifreeze, trans fluid and filter... I will take a look at the condition of the fluids and see what needs done.

Sure hope someone who has taken the panes off will chime in.
