I was comparing the parts manual from my 2012 TG and my 2014 manual. Naturally there are a lot of differences, but on many parts that you would think are the same - are not - at least the part numbers are different. Here are just two.

Rear tire 2012 = 83324-09
2014 = 83324-09A

Rear fender 2012 = 83359-11BHY
2014 = 83000056 BHY

And many many others

Any opinions why????

Yes, I have too much time on my hands. :D :D :D

The different number for the fender is just the new part numbering system. Can't remember what the "A" is for. Maybe just upgraded version of the same part.

Parts differences between the two are the VERY reason I bought a '13 trike vs a '14. Talked to a buddy in Milwaukee prior to buying my trike and he indicated there were going to be a lot of changes in parts and fitment on the '14 an none of my Ultra stuff was going to be transferable. Was able to save myself bout $6000.00 in chrome and bling by going with the '13..

When the Motorcompany adds an "A" usually represents an upgrade or change to the original part.

The new number is only for a new parts numbering system. All of the parts should eventually have this new reference from what Harley has on their site.
There might still be the same part with both reference numbers from what my stealer says. He said some of the parts they are getting in have both numbers on the package. I'm sure the old number will still be good for years to come.
With the new numbers you can't tell a year the part was first put out or used. That way you have to ask them if it will fit, and they can tell you "NO" like always!

Ya know my parts man has told me he has received parts with both parts numbers on them, but I can't find any in the new '14 parts lists. The parts all have the new number for a new '14 part or the old number for retro parts that are the same even though they are on the '14's.
You can't believe everything "people in the know" tell ya ! Excuse the faulty information.
You still won't be able to reference the number to a year with the new number other that it must be '14 or newer. Unless they have a code built in to each number. I don't see that in the numbers tho.
