I'm new to the trike, so I'm not sure what noise is normal and what is not. It seems like I hear a clattering noise when I'm starting out in any gear. When the RPM increases, the bike smooths out and sounds great. The clattering noise is worse in OD. Can someone tell me whats normal on the newer bike?

Sam we ride a 2012 wing with a CSC Viper conversion and it is noise and vibration free. Some of the early 2012 conversions used the old style drive shaft, which is contrary to what CSC was advertising for 2012. You might want to have your dealer check this out as the drive shaft connection at the rear housing may be causing the noise you are hearing if it is the old style.
Good luck

Could you be lugging the engine? Because the Goldwing's engine is a busier sounding engine then a V-Twin, I tend to want to shift it at a lower RPM. Every now and then I will shift it too soon and it will let me know by grunting or making other unpleasant noises.

I agree, even tho I ride a 1500 but it reacts the same way. Watch your RPM and see if the noise changes if you shift at higher then normal RPM. I don't mean you have to red line it, but get the engine up to between 3000, 3500 when you shift. Let us know how it works.
