2011 Tri-Glide Heat

I am looking at my repair order and it does not have anything about an update code. Service dept is closed on Mondays, but I promise I will walk over there, 1/4 of a mile away, unfortunately, and see if I can get some info. You would sure like to think that a brand new bike outta the crate would have the latest code updates or that they would check that out for showroom prep, but evidently that is not the case

You would certainly think so but that is not the way it works in the world of HD.
When I first got my 09 there was supposedly a down load to correct that problem. I went to the dealer and he down loaded something but it sure made no difference.

That is not the way it works in the world of HD. One of the ways you can cool them down is to add more fuel. HD is not going to do that as it will no longer be EPA compliant and the additional fuel will plug up the cats sooner.

You pay for a new bike prep and all you get is it uncrated and cleaned if necessary. They don't check shock or tire pressure. I do think we have drifted off thread topic.

Oh well, a little drift here, a little drift there. Had the bike out yesterday in 88 degree heat and high humidity, the leg never got hot, and seemed to have more low end tork, much more enjoyable than before the upgrade. The ETIS never kicked on, yes it is turned on, so at the moment I am very happy with it. I will check the gas mileage on my next fill up and see if it is getting better or worse. On Thursday night I have a ride that will be about 100 miles with the wife on the back, she will let me know if it is better for her or not as far as the heat issue.

Here is the latest ECM update code for 11' Tri Glide...Hope it works for you as well as it did for me!!! # 33217-11B

I am going to put on new pipes this winter, but it will not hurt to get the ECM upgrade along with new add-ons. It really does make a difference.

If you change the pipes or intake (you should really do both) and DON'T do the re-map your bike will run leaner and crappy. We changed the mufflers (Rush on mine, Reinhardts on hers) and stage 1 intake on both. Also did the remap on both. Maybe that is why my trikes don't run that hot.....

Steve...I am sure that has a lot to do with it. When I change out pipes, mufflers and intake, I will be puttin' in the new tuner and any ECM upgrades also...$2500 for what I want to do. Whew....

I spoke with a long time Harley mechanic last night and according to him, if you change just the pipes and mufflers you do not need to re-map, however if you change the intake, you will need to re-map. So, looks like I will change the pipes and mufflers this winter and ride if for a while and then maybe the intake come summer.

Just came back from a ride and wife says it seems much cooler for her, so that upgrade they put on last week seems to be doing me right. Still not sure about gas mileage, was too lazy tonight to fill it, I'll fill it in the morning and report back with the results tomorrow night.

After last nights ride looks like I am now getting 35 MPG, that is up from 30 MPG before the upgrade. All seems to be great at the moment.

Ride Safe!
