I bring my trike into H-D for 15,000 mile service and they pointed out a noise they thought was Compensator Sprocket starting to go. Confirmed when they opened it up. Good news: Warranty, Bad news: Will take a couple of days. Good news: They had a Screaming Eagle one on order for someone elses rebuild that is due in any day now and will use that. Bad news: I was going to take it up to NH & ME this week, now have to take truck (backup Kawi Enduro not in good enough shape for that kind of trip), Good news: Everything I have run across on-line talking about problem recommends replacing factory original part with Screaming Eagle.
Wait, I've lost track. Was I up to a Good news or Bad news? OK, Good news it is: At least it didn't fail on road. :gah::AGGHH::blahblah:

:faint: Whew!!! At least the good news seems to outweigh the bad news!!!

Been thinking about installing the SE compensator on my trike. I heard it helps with the first gear "clunk" and is easier on the drive train. I'm interested in knowing if you see any noticable difference between the stock and SE compensators.

I'll ask them if the SE is what was in it when they replaced it. Hopefully they have it ready for me to pick up on the weekend. I hate that I had to take my pickup on what would have been a nice ride up to NH & ME. Not to mention, the gas mileage on my truck makes the Tri-Glides look really good!

Would be interesting to know what made them determine the compensator failed. If what was in yours wasn't the SE the factory screwed up because all TG's come with the SE as std.
