I bought this trike 3 wks ago, it had 3,900 miles. I took it to the Local dealer to have a noise checked out and set up an appointment to have the 5,000 mile check. Well, the serviceman said the noise was a belt, but also said that something was loose in the front tree or front end. Well, they can't get it in to check it out until Aug 19, at this point I was getting a little hot under the collar and the serviceman told me that tree wasn't covered by the warranty. I wasn't long telling him that the 2009 had a Harley tree and should be covered. Well the point is I left really pissed having spent all that money 3 wks ago and not being able to ride for 2 or 3 wks.

I finally got my triglide into the shop today, the looseness in the front end was a loose jam nut on top of the triple tree. Whats up with that? They did the 5000 mile check and we put syn 1 in all the holes. All is good now. Later

Tri Glider that nut on the top of the tree is suppose to be tightened real good. It also has a lokking tab on it so that it can not come loose. Did you buy new or used?

I bought in used as a consignment sales from the Harley dealer. I kind of thought it came from the factory that way. It only had 3900 miles when I bought it. We put 1500 miles since we've had it.

When I retrofitted my Ultra with the TG trees...there was no provision for the locking plate as found on any other set of stock Ultra trees I had seen. It was necessary (as pointed out in UB's article) to drill a small hole in the top TG tree to secure the locking tab with a screw. I had seen some posts concerning this nut working loose on the TG and maybe they did add a locking tab along the line somewhere. But, when I ordered my TG trees...they had to be modified to install the locking tab and I just assumed the MOCO had left the tab off the TG. Tmigala could certainly be correct, but I just assumed the MOCO left it off to save another 50-cents.

I just called the dealer who worked on my trike and talked to the tech, and he said that there is no lock tab on the newer models. He said they put on loctite and tork it to factory specs.

I was not aware that they eliminated the locking tab. I would suggest if you have problems again to purchase one and add it back. My 07 has one.
