Had planned on buying the new 2010 FLH-XXX...seems that is not going to happen now....

So I am looking into converting the bike I have! Well pretty sure that is the plan! :D

Going to be doing all the work ourselves, my husband and myself over the winter.

Where do I start?

Ohh here is a pic....and thanks for any help!

If you intend to do the installation yourself, I suggest that you first determine which companies will sell to an individual. Not all will. From that list, you can compare offerings to find the kit that best meets your needs. There is no "best" trike kit for all potential owners and only you know what is important to you as they differ in standard equipment and available options.

I'm not going to have a tour box, I want the independent rear suspension, steering kit, custom paint with graphics, chrome wheels, reverse, and not sure what else!

Just had a good chat with a guy at Roadsmith  They can do all the above and will ship here to Canada, no problems with us doing it ourselves or warranty...

Which companies will not sell to an individual? I am also liking the look of the Champion....will call them next I guess!

Champion does sell to individuals, Bug Killer, and they are also an excellent kit (I love mine and am glad I chose it!). My understanding is that they only offer independent suspension for GW right now, but they will surely give you all the details.

Since you aren't going to install a top case, I doubt that you would want an auxiliary fuel tank. Champion recently announced availability of IRS but I don't know if H-D is one of the bikes it fits. Ditto for Motor Trike. DFT offers an outstanding IRS kit for the H-D that you can install. I'm told that it is one of the more straight forward installations. Trike Shop has several variations for H-D bikes and I think they will sell to individuals. I have a T-S on a Honda and am impressed with the build quality and straightforward engineering.

Talked with Champion! Sounds great and I love the look too...has the IRS for the Harley Road Glide...but they won't have anything to do with the graphics :(

That DFT is a different looking one! Had never heard of them....

Off to look at Trike Shop!

Thanks everyone!

The DFT is different! It is the lightest by far, has a simple but highly effective IRS and a large trunk. It rides and handles very well too.

I think you will like the T-S [RoadSmith} and know you will be impressed by the company. T-S is probably the closest to you and as far as I know has by far the most extensive warranty. It is another with excellent ride, handling and solid engineering.

Bug Killer. Nice ride. Check my album and you will see what I did with the Champion Kit. I'm sure you can find someone local to do the paint for you. Champion did not have the IRS system when I purchased but I love mine like it is. I also did my own AIM reverse install. I like that also. Good luck.

Yes! Very nice...I had already been looking at it!:D
