I'm looking for a good manual primary chain adjuster for my 19 Tri Glide. If you've had any experience with these for a Tri Glide chime in.

I had a Hayden In my 2020 Tri Glide It broke got caught between the primary chain & clutch hub Bent the crankshaft & broke the left side engine case, Hayden would not talk to me, over the years I used at least a dozen of them, They changed the shoe to some cheap piece of SHIT ! I have used screaming eagle cense then.

The very last version of Harley self adjusting tensioner is a bit better than the previous versions but I don’t believe 100%. I love the Hayden principle way of thinking, they are on the right track and the odds are you wouldn’t have a failure until you have a failure. I guess anything can fail. Baker makes a nice one, attitude adjuster and the SE version as well. I’m going to take my primary cover off this coming winter and inspect my chain and I will make a decision on which way I will be going if I change at all. Not being as aggressive as I was on my Electra Glide I might get better results on this newer version of the tensioner on my 21. We shall see. My old 07 still has the Hayden on it and has something like 80000 miles on it. My maintenance guy at work bought my bike and it still works fine. It has 125000 miles on it.

I'm odd man out. I like the auto adjuster. I remove the primary cover at every oil change. I dont care what anyone sez, change that primary oil. Microscoptic metal can adhere on the rotor cover because of the magnets and eventually short out the armature prematurely. HD sez impossible but they say alot of things. My '76 FXE is still on its original alternator. Lucky? Maybe.

I concur again. I pop my primary cover off at every oil change just to have a look see. I don't like that Harley took away the inspection window in the primary but what are you going to do?. It's a lot better to have a look see at every three to five thousand miles than to have something to go bad. I like the automatic adjuster also I was just looking to see what else was out there. Thanks for your info.
