Who is making trike kits for Sportsters these days?

Specifically a 2018 XL1200NS (Iron 1200), and a 2012 XL1200C (Custom)

Frankenstein looks cool, price is in our budget. Solid rear axle we could live with for simplicity sake, but the short-shot exhaust is a no-go, especially since we’re in the People’s Republic of California, and Mrs hates loud pipes.

Like to look at other vendors.

Mrs and I are fully committed to our TriGlide but recent drama in health has made 2 wheels impossible for me. We like to go “Sportstering” on occasion, she loves her Custom, and it seems a shame to get ride of them paid for and all.

Did I mention Mrs loves her Custom?

TIA for leads or a thread already on this!

Since the Frankenstein is in your budget, I'd strongly consider it. I am a dealer for both Frankenstein and DNA and the former is by far the better choice if you want a complete, bolt on, high quality conversion. I sell and install a lot of these.

Yea, would totally be diving into Frankenstein if it wasn’t for the short shots.

Any ideas about exhaust for these that isn’t gonna piss off the Mrs (she likes the quiet and sound of her stock pipes), the CHP, or the DMV?

Short of moving out of state, which would be fine with me, but…. You know…

Brian, have you heard the short shots on a Sporty? Pretty much all the Frankenstein trikes including the FLs and XLs must use the short shots due to the large diameter rear axle assembly and they are not that loud.

I have not.

I hear them zipping around town on Dynas and such and think, wow, and sharp.

Of course the other issue is, California. Maybe I need a friend in Nevada. (Haha)

These guys have two kits for Sportsters. Saw them in Milwaukee last year , their stuff looked solid and it’s family owned.

Good luck purchasing a kit from them. I think they have a superior suspension geometry over Roadsmith, but I tried for several weeks to order a kit and finally gave up and ordered a Roadsmith.

The Roadsmith suspension will out performance the Kool Trikes conversation hands down and it's a proven bulletproof kit with a 40+ year old company behind it.

Good to know, thank you!

The Kool Trikes guy didn’t have anything nice to say about Roadsmith or CSC and went in to detail about his ATV styled angle shock suspension being superior due to how the geometry is in line with applied forces of the swing arm. I bought in to his line of thinking and reasoned it to be better. Feel better now going with the Roadsmith kit.
