Dropped off my Valkyrie Trike for service this past weekend at Blue Ridge PowerSports in Harrisonburg, VA. Great dealership and an authorized MotorTrike center. Going to have them go over her from stem to stern, service and replace what ever needs to be done and also install a new custom exhaust. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" /><br />
<br />
Now of course, I just couldn't drop her off and leave with out strolling around the show room. And there it was,,, a brand new beautiful black Gold Wing Trike, all dressed up!!! <img src="images/smilies/ohthedrama.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Ohthedrama" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="images/smilies/GL1800smilie.gif" border="0" alt="" title="GL1800" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="images/smilies/gah.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Gah" class="inlineimg" /><br />
<br />
I just had to see what it felt like to sit on her. And,, as we all well can imagine,, the salesman just happened to know that I had brought in my Valkyrie for servicing. So he starts mentioning that he could give me a great price on the Wing along with top dollar for the Valk. I just smiled and said; 'No thanks. I put a hell of a lot of time and customizing into my Valk. Don't feel like starting over'.

I didn't even ask the price of the Wing nor what he'd offer for my Valk. But,,,, I can't get that Wing out of my head, lol. <img src="images/smilies/AGGGH.gif" border="0" alt="" title="AGGHH" class="inlineimg" /><br />
<br />
Come on guys & gals,,,. Talk me out of it!!!! <img src="images/smilies/thumbup.gif" border="0" alt="" title="ThumbUp" class="inlineimg" />

I say always have a backup ride. While you are having service done on your Valkyrie Trike, what are you riding? See, you need a backup!:Joker3:

When I said that I can't get that Wing out of my head, that is definitely a true statement. But to actually move on the idea is clearly nuts!

I'll be hopefully retiring next year and the last thing I need to do now is lay out more money on something that is clearly not needed. I had always wanted to have a motorcycle again along with a hotrod. My Valk trike is both of those all rolled up into one! And with all of the money I've spent on customizing this trike, I'd really need to have my head examined to merely trade it away on a whim!

I just put this post out here to entertain and show how that little devil that sits on our shoulder is always looking to get us into trouble.

Safe riding everyone!!

Well if you have all the stuff you want on your valk. it is time to strt over.
Part of the fun of owing a motorcycle is adding all thoses accessories.
If you can afford it go for it.

Ya know,,, I couldn't agree with you more regarding adding all of the accessories being fun. As a matter of fact I almost enjoy customizing the trike more than riding her, lol. I've been like that all my life with the various cars I've owned. But you did mention the key factor! (If you can afford it). In all honesty, I can't.

Okay.You said to change your thinking so here goes.
Too many GoldWing trikes out there and not many Valkyires.You are in the "one of a kind group".
Black is a slower color (don't know what color your Valk is) white would be faster and if they don't have a white one,"forget a bout it".
GoldWings don't have any sound.(Getting new exhaust on Valk ?)That Valk is a part of you,you want someone else riding "her"?
You won't have a "bike" and a "hot-rod" anymore and will have to buy a hot-rod,costly !!
You mat have to learn how to ride the Wing all over again cause they "back-up" and you are not used to that.
Just a few items that might change you thinking.
just sayin

LMAO!!!!:GoodPost:

My Valk is Red & White and everything else you mentioned is only reinforcing the decision to forget about the Wing!! (Although I'd love to have a reverse!!) lol

Thanks for the thoughts! ThumbUp

Okay, I'll help. I've ridden an 11" Lehman GW and a used Valk two wheeler. I'd much rather have the Valk..............stick with what you like.

What can I say I'm a big gold wing fan... I'm more of a road warrior than around town type of a guy. If I'm not doing long interstate hauls... I would go with the VAL... but since I take a wife with most of the time.. GOLDIE!

Hope that doesn't help cause you really do need to go with what you know not us lame brains... :wave4:

Rich, Stay cool and give it a week before making a decision. also, if he is willing to give top dollar for the Valk. there must be a market for Valk's. Also, the Valk is becoming a classic and bring good money in Cycle Trader etc.

Rich, what type of exhaust are you getting for the Valk?

The one I bought has the Cobra 6 x 6... a little loud for my tastes on long trips. My Valk Tourer has factory exhaust that I converted to 4" straight pipes over slightly modified factory guts. A little rumble, not so monotonous on long runs.

Lol... When I first bought my Valk, I also had the Cobra 6 x 6 on her. I then went with Ernie's Dragon packs which do have a nice low rumble to them but they're still a bit too loud even with the largest glass packs installed especially for early morning departures. Although these current pipes can have the original baffles put in, you do need to do some modifications to them which is beyond my capabilities. So now I went with the exhaust from Mark. See the link below;

Exhaust System

Great guy to deal with and everyone who has ordered from him raves about his product. His pipes already come with the baffles installed and they can also be removed if you wish. At least with this set, I don't have to do any customizing. I can't wait to hear my Valk as these pipes are being installed now while she's in for service. I'll get her back next weekend. I'll post then as to my impressions! ThumbUp

Ok, I'm familiar with MarkT's reputation from the VRCC board. Good product, but I'll have to wait until I accrue a few more $ :laugh:

I do have a gutted set in the shop, may try to add glass packs and a 4" cover on them.

Do let us know how you like the new pipes.

Best piece of advice for you------2012 is the Year of the Dragon----hence KEEP THE DRAGON !!! Mine is green/silver and there is not enough of anything that will claw her from my cold hands.. Ride her til the wheels are old and rusted-paint peeled off-and the gas tank is replaced with a 5 gallon plastic tank. Ride Safe !!!
