You folks don't know who I am, I joined about 6 years ago. Although I sold my trike, I still visit this site 3 or 4 times a week.

I the reason I am posting, is for some of you that might not know what the pact act is, it was signed into law in August of 2022.

Just want to let the veterans know that under this law, high blood pressure is now a presumptive of Agent Orange.

Hope this is informative for some of you.

I'm guessing since no vets actually made comments on VSTriker's post (just "likes") that no one on here received any benefits as a result of the PACT Act?

Here is my story. I have had high blood pressure and migraines since I was in my 20's. The migraines started after VN. My induction physical at age 17 shows normal BP, my ETS physical 3 1/2 years later shows borderline high BP. Anyhow, I filed a claim for tinnitus, high BP, and migraines. Since I have been treated by a VA clinic and received migraine and BP meds I figured it was going to be approved. Wrong!

They approved 10% disability for tinnitus and that was all. Then I took all my civilian and Army records to my County VA resource officer (every County has one in every State). He filed everything. A few months later I got approved for 30% (10% each for tinnitus, migraines, and BP). They also sent me around $4,000 back pay because the payments go back to when you first apply, not when they finally approve it. In addition, all my meds and VA doctor visits are covered without any deductibles.

I told all of this to a buddy who also served in VN. He had never applied for VA HealthCare because he thought he made too much money. I told him to apply online. During the online application process when it asked about income a box would pop up advising him that he wasn't required to provide income information. I told him not to provide his income information.

He applied and was granted VA HealthCare within about 3 weeks. Now he has had open heart bypass surgery, prostate cancer, and several other issues. He gathered up all of his medical records and went to his county resource officer. They filed for disability and a few months later the VA sent him a packet approving him for 100% disability. Since he is married he receives around $4,000 per month tax free. Oh yea, and they sent him a check for over $12,000 back pay on the claim!

This PACT Act was an extremely important piece of legislation for all Viet Nam vets. Over the years I watched my cousin die, my brother-in-law die, and one of my Army best friends die of Agent Orange related cancers and/or issues. The medical issues they had are now all included in this new act.

Okay, I'm climbing down off the soap box now. Just came across this old post and thought it needed an update.

Thank you for your service and thank you for sharing this. No doubt there are a lot of veterans here who need to be aware of their benefits.
