Welcome phil1945! More info would help.are you starting from scratch? I think all the major kits are good. I ride a 90 model Goldwing with a Motor Trike kit that I really like.My main suggestion would be to test ride as many different brands as possible.GOOD LUCK

Just looking for any info about buying a trike

Welcome aboard. What do you have now for a bike? Decide on what you like Honda, Harley, or whatever, then start looking at them as a trike. Try to find an installer (unless you are doing it yourself). Thats for a start. After that we will go further. Good luck

Welcome Phil. if you are looking for new. I am happy with my H-D Tri-Glide. They do make it hell to get a test ride. You might want to look around to see if you can rent one to try (keeping in mind, if you have never ridden a trike, it usually takes around 500 miles to get used to it). I also like the looks of the CheetahTrikes but have never seen one in person (see over to right for their ad).

Welcome aboard. Glad you can join us. You may want to check the gallery out there are plenty of pictures there. There are a lot of beautiful trikes there. If you see something that you like, then you can ask questions. You get better results that way.

Welcome to the forum. You've got a great area for trike riding. My mom used to live in Boynton Beach. We visited there often. I've got a 07 Goldwing with the California Side Car kit on it. I'm happy with it so far. Like you've been told see if you can ride as many as you can. :)

BE SURE to search your area for available dealer for whatever trike you decide on.
Follow up service ---warrenty work can be a problem if you are not within an "acceptable" distance to a factory dealer/service center.
I recently had a need for a problem--called trike mfg only to find the closest
repair facility was over 300 miles from me. Thus, trailering it there--returning home and doing the trip again to retrieve it totaled over 1200 mile of travel !!

There are several threads on this forum that discuss this issue. I found these using the search function.

Here are a few:

Before I bought mine, I spent a lot of time reading the older threads and learned a lot.

Have fun with your quest!

The very best thing you can do is find a great installer no matter what trike brand you pick!
Ask trike people in your area who installed their kit and how they like the installer.

Thanks for the replys..I think I am going for a new goldwing with a csc viper however I am a little concerned since I have no experience other than the safety and driving school I took to get my license...I havent driven a bike for over 40 years..what do you guys think? is there more training available in south fla....I am a good driver with experience driving everything but a bike..cars,trucks,race cars, heavy equip....I would value any thoughts on this....thanks

Just take it easy for the first 400 miles or so and it will come to you. if you can find a trike course that would be great but not manditory.

Hi phil1945, you have been given good advice by our friends on the Forum. I was a new Trike driver in the same situation as you almost 4 years ago. I bought a new Gold Wing '08, had it Triked at a local business and thought I did everything right (Trucker's advice is right on). BUT, the installer went belly up and left me to do my own work which has worked out excellent (I'm somewhat of a wrench head as it turns out). I can tell you that learning how to drive was not that difficult; I did take the same safety course that you took (and pay attention to the stuff they teach you such as SEE), be careful when cornering and pulling up to gas pumps because I have seen several people hit their rear fender and damage it (remember you have another 18" or so sticking out on each side). Good luck and enjoy your new trike my friend. I have learned one other thing, Florida is heaven for riders!

Thanks for the info..another question is where is the best place to purchase an extended warranty..I bought a new wing today from wesley chapel honda in the tampa fla area... level 4 red and decided to go with california side car viper...Huals is picking it up from the dealer and delivering it to me when finished ,probably around the first of march any help or suggestions would be helpful...thanks

Go for it, I had a30+ year leave from riding off sailing. I took the MSF course only eight years and 120,000 miles ago. Gorilla is right on it 400-500 miles and you will be grinning !

Like you, I had not ridden in many years when I got my trike. After the safety course, I did not feel qualified to ride in traffic or on the highway. I took time to ride around parking lots and in the neighborhood until I felt more competent. Then I gradually got onto public roadways. After 2K miles, I feel comfortable going anywhere.

I had the luck to ride a wing with a hannigan for about an hour ..turning corners and going through curves..I feel pretty good about it but I will take it easy ..I live in south fla and the traffic is frightning..safety is my main goal..thanks for the help

Bought a 1999 Goldwing Motortrike conversion in Sept. 2011. Love it. Rides great.
Big issue I had was price. Was not willing to spend the money needed to get a newer trike. Finally bought it from Craig's list.
