I have a 2010 triglide ultra with jackpot headers, PCV, autotune, Rush slipons, and 2.25" baffles. I am considering pulling the baffles. My son says that I should install torque cones at the head pipes. Opinions/comments? (Wiz, I got this far with your help <:(# :)P#)

NOooooooooo

Yikes !!:AGGHH:

You will lose your bottom end torque, suck gas and go deaf. What are you looking to accomplish? I know your trike is loud now with the 2.25's but what is your goal?

Wiz and msoko are both correct. You will lose a LOT of low end torque!! I ran 2 1/2" baffles in my Rush slip-on's for a while when I was still on two wheels. Didn't like the sound so I went with 1 3/4" baffles. Sound was much better and I could feel a dramatic increase in low end torque. I bought a set of Kuryakyn Crusher slip-on's based on their advertisement claiming more horsepower/torque and great sound. Super disappointment!! Low end torque fell to the basement.....but the sound was in fact great. I ran them about 50 miles and reinstalled the Rush 1 3/4". If you don't like the sound maybe you could re-pack the baffles with less material???

This fall I learned a Supertrapp supermeg is damn loud with no disk and no end cap. Before I yanked the engine on my 06 Ultra I took a quick jaunt around the block with the disk and end cap removed. It was pretty mellow at idle but holy crap Batman did it hurt when I passed through 6,000 rpm. I was wearing a full face helmet and it was one of those make your ears itch and burn types of loud, not pleasant at all.

Did something similar when I was changing mufflers on my Heritage a few years ago. Rode it around the block with no mufflers. My neighbor across the street still ain't speaking to me!! :(

I just bought a new 2010 Victory Jackpot with level one mod and swept pipes. It was way too quiet for me, so I pulled the baffles out, and it sounds great. The torque is still great in any gear at any speed, but I guess I should expect that, since it has a 106 engine and weighs half of what the trike does. I am getting 40+MPG with the modification. I like the sound of the tri glide now, but was mainly curious. You guys all responded in the negative. Good enough for me. I will settle for your cam modification some time this spring.

I had a smiler experience some years ago when I installed V&H dresser duals and the old style Screamin Eagle 1 piece slip ons on a 05 Electraglide I had. It was loud, loud enough nobody wanted to ride behind me because it was painful to to them. One day I was riding down the road real careful to keep the noise down and a neighbor started shaking his fist at me. My wife wouldn't ride on it because it made her only good ear ring. In the end I ended up with the factory head pipes back on the bike.
