Kerrville Ride October 2020

:wave4:

My guess its mainly the trailering... if it's the wet/cold, he'd picked a different place to live :D

As I age, both. When we lived in Va. we headed to Bike week at 15* in the mountains & snowing but not sticking yet. (Ken) just wait youngster, you will get there. lol

:Agree: Especially if I am putting it together. No Bill and Jeane, no spring rally (Blue Bonnet) ThumbUp

Do you have a date in mind ?? I just checked a date in April (at random) & B/W was sold out already !! Something going on already

Kurt and Sally have to know soon so they can set up vacation days. They planned to come this year, so I am hoping 2021 works out for all of us.

Maybe Jim and Ed from AZ will come too.

I was working hard to get Kevin & Mary to come back to Texas. Maybe we can get Papa Zook to make it again as well as so many others that are missed or we haven't yet had the opportunity to meet.

God Bless America. :Dorag: God Bless Texas. :Dorag:

Maybe start a 2021 thread now?

This link posts more stuff than you can absorb in one sitting.

As usual..one must doublecheck a particular item to make sure of the current details..but it does give an idea of generally what goes on in the hill country.

P.s... he hasn’t posted the 2021 calendar yet... this link is 2020 but gives you an idea of stuff.

I looked at that Hill Country Portal. The number of activities is mind blowing. Think I may NEED to roll on down there for a personal inspection/investigation. I'll keep watching for dates..... Jim

Had a blast with everyone. The rides went off without a hitch and NO traffic...!!

The weather was partly cloudy, in the low-to-mid 80’s, depending on altitude, and the 2 new bikes (Lola and Nuc’s) are super nice. Was good to see everyone.

As DblTrbl pointed out, for once there were no duplicates of bike colors...every one was a different color, shade or combo...nice to see.

DblTrbl led a lower speed jaunt on Morris Ranch Road Monday where we saw quite a few deer but they stayed out of the road...some did run alongside out in the pasture.

He took an aft position on the “3 Sisters” ride on Tuesday and no deer were encountered. BUT yesterday, heading home from the Mason ride,,,literally,,, as soon as he peeled off alone on the trip back to Kerrville,,, within a 1/4 mile.. a nice buck runs out in front of him with another 4 or 5 milling around. Further down the road at highway speeds another close encounter with multiple deer, and not far from that, ANOTHER highway speed close encounter..all between noon and 2:30’sh when they are supposed to be resting in the brush!!

Shouldn’t have been surprised though.. Dennis said he saw maybe 3 deer on his round trip from Texas to Maggie Valley and back... then ...a group of deer greeted him just as he and the toyhauler pulled into the entrance to the RV park here.

I’m telling you.. there is some kind of Texas deer karma going on with that red trike in the lead and bearded guy driving it...:Santa:

I have not heard any discussion as to 2021 dates. I imagine lots of folks are just trying to get through the next couple of months then see how the Covid/quarantine orders will play out for 2021. In listening to the various media outlets it has been reported that possibly the whole country will be put into lockdown.

Would it be a good idea to tentatively set the dates now? Then IF things are shut down due to covid, cancellations could be made.....? I don't know what kind of effect this would have on hotels but think they would probably be flexible...... Jim

Hey Jim, No prob with the motels. I had resv for this past April for the Tx ride. Just cancel before whatever the deadline the motel has. Usually 24 hrs before, & some are even before the check-in time the day of. But,I agree with on a date to shoot for. I was checking for some dates in Kerrville just recently & everything was already booked for whatever time that was. Closest I could find rooms was Boerne or Bandera. O well we know about AZ for next year.

No one can pinpoint the peak 2021 Bluebonnet season or predict what travel restrictions may or may not be forced upon us next year. Lots of sites provide information on the progress of the wildflowers in Texas so come on down anytime you feel like it. We Texans love visitors, just don't be riding the Hill Country without us.

This February 27 article explains how the 2020 Bluebonnets did their own thing. Bluebonnets Are Already Blooming in Some Parts of Texas | Southern Living

I have to turn in my vacation requests by 11/25/2020 and am wondering if any dates have been determined? Hoping to put Kerrville on the list for 2021.

Kurt

If you are bringing your camper, come anytime. We will show you around.

I may be pulling out of here by May or June before it gets hot. Might head to Montana and camp on a friend's property for a while.

My April vacation is scheduled 4/15-4/28 which means I would have to be headed home NLT 4/25. I will be hoping that an Official Kerrville gathering will fall in there. It would be good to ride with Robert and Diane Dismukes again as well as put faces with more of the members names.

Would be good riding either way.

Official or not, I am sure you won't be riding around Kerrville all by your little self. :high5:

I have seen your home on wheels. I have a hard time thinking of you as "camping". :drama:

As earlier mentioned, the scale of wildflower show in the spring is highly dependent on rainfall in the fall and winter. La Nina is now in place and our rainfall in the hill country has been very sparse. This drought monitor map was valid as of 12/15/2020. The red blob in the middle of the state is us. So I would not plan a ride to Texas just to see the wildflower show next spring. However as Lola said we would like to meet up with whoever shows up just about anytime.

Sorry... the map didn’t show..

Lola - I'm sure you do. Going out to ride later this morning after finishing prepping ribs for BBQ today.

Is there any other Trike Talk activity happing during this time period?
