Well as he left the house the speedo started working so it either had dirt on it or its going bad,so when we get back from Natural Bridge KY next weekend we will tear into it.

Steve, the #1 cause of the sensor not working correctly is a build up of metallic filings on the magnet. If it has healed itself for now expect it to act up again. I had this problem on 2 Dynas, never on my baggers or trikes. IMO the type of gear lube used and periodic changes can make a difference. Good Luck and post up your findings;)

Thanks for the info Jack,he bought it last year and has no idea what lubes were used,so that is on the agenda when we do the speed sensor.

Steve, in the old days we would fill the case with kerosene, start the bike and run it thru the gears, Then dump the kerosene and refill the lube. WE also used Kerosene to flush the oil tanks. This worked pretty darn good:clapping:

I had to do a repair on a drain plug on the oil pan and i had to make a special over sized bolt to open the threads up some and i used kerosene to flush it out, didnt even think of using it to clean the speed sensor thanks for reminding me.
