Going to remove body to install DK Lift and fix exhaust that two dealers can’t seem to get right, left muffler keeps slipping rearward (Rinehart system). How do the side panels come off? How many electrical connections are there to disconnect? Tried to buy service manual from Harley website with no luck. Thanks in advance.

See post # 3 here, this is a first year Freewheeler tho yours should be the same

The side covers just pop off, grab hold of them and pull straight out

You've got 8 bolts to remove. Dont be surprised that the cheapo spot welded nuts on the frame extension snap off. Use lots of blue painter's tape all along the lower body especially around the mufflers. When removing body slide back slightly and tip up to clear the seat extension- use tape here. Gotta tip the front( toward rider) up at a 70 degree angle +- in order to clear the rolled over lower bottom body panels.I suspend the body with 4 ratcheting tie downs then just pushed the trike forward to clear the lower panels. Then lowered the body onto movers dollies. Of course I'm working alone. I think next time I'm gonna buy one of those HF 1 ton shop cranes and remove it that way. Did I mention use lots of blue painter's tape?

Thanks

Thanks Old Road Dog, yes I was planning on lots of painters tape, I’ve seen my handy work before lol. Those instructions will be a great help.
