EZ Steer on a Road Glide (FLTR)

I'm having some problems on the EZ steer for my 11 Road Glide. Champion lists the EZ steer for 87 thru current FLH's and FLT's but the only one you can order justs says FLH. I've just installed it and I don't have enough front wheel swing (about 5 1/2" either side of center) to turn around on a 4 lane hiway! I'm not sure it's even rideable this way. I took the fork stops off but this isn't any help because the front of the bottom triple clamp hits the fairing mount. Anyone with a Road Glide conversion had this problem? I'm not sure its unique to the 11 model year, most of the changes were made in 09.

Thanks
Dwight

Bazooka may chime in here after a while. I think he is the EZ Steer expert. If not.....send him a PM.

You likely did not realize it, as all the activity posted about it has probably rolled many pages over, but you could have used Harley TG trees. Many of us have gone that route thanks to a poster on here called Ultraboy who had a article published here on the forum. Some adjustments are required to make the TG tree conversion....but I haven't a clue about the EZ Steer. Find a post or thread from Bazooka and send him a PM. If not him....maybe he can direct you to the expert.

I still run my stock tubes and I remember Ultraboy and myself pondering the differences....if any, in handling. I can only tell you that the trees alone made a WORLD of difference. I think I made a feeble attempt to compute the difference in rake and trail and if you run-the-numbers...it's miniscule. If you have an older model with the timken bearings...you have to change all that over also to fit the TG tubes (axle, etc.) and you will have brake-line issues as well.. Another option is to add fork extenders to what you have.

The most economical way is to simply use the stock tubes. All it did to mine was lower the ride-height at the front by something like 3/16 of an inch, which is likely about as much as running your front tire pressure a little low. Other words....it won't matter a great deal.

I installed a EZ steer conversion on I got from Randy ( Bazooka ) here on trike talk on my 08 Roadglide trike with only a slight issue of my nacelle bottom and the bottom of the inner fairing touching at full lock turning. Its not enough for me to bother with. I still have full turing otherwise

It wasn't a minor problem. I had to trim and shape the fairing mount significantly. It appears Champion needs to actually check and see if their parts fit. It will require some machine work to make it a bolt on, at least for 2011 models.
