Here we go again, looks like this weekend some time Florida will be under the gun again

If this storm is on track, I will likely lose power some time Sunday night:mad:

Thankfully there is ample time to prepare to ride the storm out, or leave town!

Hopefully no lives are lost, and property damage is minimal.

Good luck to all in the path of this early in the hurricane season, storm...

Take care Jack, hoping the track will change either north or south from where they're predicting for a Sunday night landfall. Right now it's not looking good for us on the west coast either.

I hope this crazy storm does not cut across the state and pop out in the Gulf:confused:

I’m thinking/hoping Dorian turns north then east back out to sea before the heaviest part of the storm gets to shore.

We have lots of Florida and east coast members here and the forum is quiet..I miss the chatter!

GO AWAY DORIAN!!

Now we’re watching the X in the Gulf. :cxtv:

Well, its that time of year...

WOW! The tropics have mushroomed with disturbances after having been so quiet... 4 on the Atlantic side in various locations, including Dorian, and 1 on the Pacific side.

Not having had to deal with hurricane preparedness projects I am curious as to the sandbag project. The Weather Channel always shows people filling sand bags as fast as they can - every time they track a hurricane...

...but my question is...what happens to the sandbags they filled for the last storm and are there not piles and piles of these already-filled bags kept somewhere...like in a corner of the yard or wherever people keep their plywood for the doors and windows?

Unfortunately, a lot of the sand and wood ends up going to the curb as trash

I just don't understand the disposable society I try to recycle as much as I can

They put it in a dumpster with the plywood with all the other stuff they bought for the storm, And when the next storm some comes along they start the process all over again...What a waste...Especially since Plywood is Florida's state tree....:D..

My brother has plywood cut and marked keeps it in his garage just in case. Otherwise Florida plywood is made of unobtainium. He says you can forget about water and gas also.

I heard that Dorian has signed a deal with Disney ...To be a permanent attraction and that's why it hasn't moved on.......

Has a hurricane ever lingerd this long off the coast of Florida ?...

Not in the years we have been in Florida

Jacksonville and Daytona are just now getting a small out flow band of light wind gusts and rain

This is supposed to peak sometime Wednesday, very slow mover and shaker:p

WE lost power about an hour ago. It is back on now but I bet it goes out again

The wind and rain started here @ 3 in the AM the storm is down the road from me 22 miles in St Augustine moving toward us here in Jacksonville

Jack, Hope things are getting better for you now. We've had some heavy rain and wind in Ocala, but nothing like you may be getting.

Know where the Black Water INN is on the St. Johns? We usually make the trip over there twice a year on Thanksgiving and Easter with a group between 10-16. Always have a good meal there and it's reasonable.
