Replacing the Shift Knob on a MotorTrike Reverse.

I am looking to replace the black shift knob on "MotorTrike" reverse kit. Is the shift knob threaded or glued on the shaft? If it can be change, what is the thread size? If anyone here has switched theirs, I would much appreciate your feedback.

I know shifter pegs for Harley Trikes are threaded, and we often change them to personalize our trikes.

I had the Moto-Trike reverse on my 11 Tri-Glide But sorry to say i never though about changing it....I'm more of a Function over Form guy....But i would think it would with a little force unscrew....:Shrug:...Wish i could help you out a little more..

When I did mine it was a Champion reverse Gear similar looking to the Motor Trike version and could be made by Champion??

Anyway I had to cut off the shift knob thread the shifter shaft and put on the shift knob that I wanted to use. :laugh:

Thanks. Yeah, I heard that the Champion knobs are glued on??

It's threaded on but I can't get it to budge. Might have some glue as well. Of course, I'm approaching 72 years old which may be the problem as well. Don't have the grip in my hands as I once did.

Nah. Hands aren't the problem. I'm sure there's some thread lock of some sort on there. If it wasn't the engine vibration would back it off in short order. If it's the red thread lock, even a young buck like me (51) couldn't get it undone with my hands.

Yep.....Bet its Loctite on the treads a vice grip or a channel lock plier should loosen it, that's i if you don't mind chewing up the nob.....Or caveman style, Heat it ...That will brake the Loctites grip...

Got a good strap wrench? A bit of heat and a good strap wrench may get it off??

Or if you dont care about the knob just cut it off and put of what you like??

Have you contacted Motor trike and ask them the best way to get it off??
