I gave up ABS for the Three World

Greetings fellow Trikers,

I have questions regarding the loss of ABS when I converted my 2014 HD Limited. The ABS fault light now burns steady all the time. I understand the loss of the ABS feature but I'm wondering what has been done about it. I would imagine the loss is because the existing ABS system is setup for 2 wheel inputs or sensors not 3. Has anyone removed their ABS hardware after their conversion? Did I mention, I think I lost Reflex braking too?

There are conversions available that retain the ABS

Which conversion do you have.

Believe a call to whoever did your conversion is needed concerning the light.

Let us know what you find out.

My local dealership and I have talked about the ABS fault light and we are going to put the DT on it next trip there. He was also going to see what else he could find out. Champion Trike and Sidecar did the conversion for me.

The earlier instruction books (before Champion) directed the installer on how to disable the ABS fault light. The ECM has been programmed to recognize this interruption and the following was copied from the Lehman installation manual, not the Champion/Lehman manual.

The ECM only recognizes 2-wheel speed pickups on the two-wheeler.

7. Remove outer fairing (refer to HD service manual).

Caution: Disabling ABS light will also disable cruise

control light.

8. Disable ABS warning light by cutting orange

wire with white stripe.

9. Install 2” heat-shrink to each end of cut

wire.

10. Re-install fairing.

11. Place ABS warning label above warning

light indicators on fairing.

The cruise control light may be the reasoning behind leaving it alone.

thanks for the input regarding the ABS light. I received no instructions on this but based on what I read here I’m going to leave it alone.. I like the Cruise Control light better.
