Grip question I guess, not sure how to address this just read

Went to harley dealer today and sat on bike to dial in the handlebars the way I want, 12.5 wild one bars like I had on my 2016 triglide, this one is a 2018. Well I told them that the right grip is not right, it moves slightly left and right, I don't remember any movement on the 2016 at all, the grips I had them put on are the chrome and rubber hand grips part number 56246-08, he said because of the bar and the grip plus throttle by wire, I told him my 2016 had the same and did not have this, I won't know anymore until tomorrow but this isn't right IMHO.

What do you guys think or suggest he do, looking for something, I called them before closing and told them I viewed some videos on you tube plus explored some hd forums and this isn't right with the left and right movement, the videos there wasn't any movement left and right, they were tight. I have waited forever for parts to come in, some were back ordered and then some come in that were wrong, I bought this triglide the 22nd of September and still haven't got it yet, getting pretty disgusted.

All for now Trampas

My 17 T/G Throttle [stock grip] also had a slight movement left to right....It has to have some looseness because of the fly by wire...It can't be tight on the throttle.... Go around the showroom and feel the grips on the trikes sitting there..

Thanks for answering this, guess I will check out the triglides on the showroom, they have a few of them, I just don't remember this on my 2016 that is why I'm asking about my 2018, I would think they would be the same.

I have a 2016 Triglide. I had Carlini bars installed with chrome and rubber hand grips. The right grip does have left and right play (1/8" or so). To be honest I couldn't remember if it had that much play so I had to go out to the shop and check it out. Hope that helps Trampas.

Thank you guys for the responses, I just didn't feel it on my 2016 but sure can on this 2018, I would guess about a 1/8 inch but feels like 1/4 LOL, didn't get much sleep last night worried about this, hopefully picking it up today, will get pics as soon as I can and post and thanks again, guess I worried for nothing, but it just didn't feel right to me.

All for now Trampas ( the worried wart ):D:D

The two torx screws that hold the brake clamp can be loosened to adjust the DBW handle play. You want it a tad loose , by mowing the whole assembly in or out. After securing it , move throttle fully CW and CCW , it must spring back easily with out any kind of binding .

I did check out the triglides at the dealer and they all had some play back and forth, even check some 2 wheelers out, some had play and some was tight and not much play wish mine was like that. When I picked my 2018 up today I didn't even noticed it at all, so maybe my 2016 had play and I just didn't know it.

:).....Glad you put your mind at ease.....ThumbUpThumbUp....

My 16 moves about 1/8 also. I noticed it when cleaning the bike, checked some new ones in dealer showroom and found the same. Never notice it while riding, though.
