First time trike rider

Hi, I just brought a trike don't know much about them have been riding motor cycles for years and always wanted one. I got a great deal on a 1999 gold wing 1500se trike. Any suggestions

Either learn to wrench it yourself or find someone that can and try to find a source for parts. Honda isn't great at supporting older products. Other than that, ride the heck out of it and enjoy.

Nick, Welcome to Trike Talk Forum. Check it over good so you won't be disappointed on your first ride. And, like was previously stated, find a good parts source. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here to assist you (verbally that is)

Hi-ya Nick! Welcome to TrikeTalk from west Texas! Hope you get to enjoy miles of smiles with your trike!

THINK WIDE!

Remember you can't split lanes or lean into turns. Welcome to the forum and enjoy the ride!!
:clapping:

(Oh yeah, watch out when negotiating driveway entrances and exits on an angle. Handle bars can pull around when rear wheels hit the dip.)

welcome aboard Nickolas. There are several threads here on new riders. Take your time and go to a parking lot and do a lot of figure 8's to get used to turning.

Welcome to the forum take your time and get used to it these trikes are a great ride :good:travel safe Fred

Hey Nick,

Welcome from Ct....the 1500's are older but I haven't found any issues getting replacement parts for it. I just got a new seat for my 1500 in March from Partszilla along with a new CB antenna. I have also ordered through Cyclemax in Ohio and Dennis Kirk. The only thing I recommend is to possibly change the timing belts depending on mileage or if they have been changed. These are available through auto parts houses locally. There are a couple of small filters that need changing also in the air supply lines.

There is a good web site on line goldwingdocs.com that has a lot of good info on it, including a list of vendors for parts and how to articles for working on the bike. It's not a trike site but does have a forum that I see trike posts occasionally, but for the basic bike it is great. I had a clutch issue after sitting all winter and followed the how to to flush and bleed the clutch fluid. When I did my timing belts, it even covered removing the plastic so I could work on the engine.

Thanks, I should say the username don't really apply any more but I have had it so long I guess it stays, I used to ride a Ultra Classic and Turbo Busa, but they both just got traded for a Freewheeler, at least I won't fall over at red lights no more:Joker3:

eh welcome aboard from Eastpointe MI I own 1989 GW w/Champion conversion I never had a problem finding parts or someone to work on it....so enjoy
