Winter Storm Grayson

Jackson

You Minisota folks take care in the relocation process from Jackson ! ❤️ Don’t want to hear of any injuries ❄️.

not to change the thread but How the breathing coming and when do you get a another knee. Fred

We have names for all our snowfalls - Tuesday, Friday, Sunday... :)

We got 4" last night. The sheltie never wants to come in, but the weiner doesn't like the cold that much. She claimed the bottom shelf of a stand so she wouldn't have to lay on the floor. And when she's real cold she'll lay half on the stand and half on the heater vent -

Pups are smart Ron, Daisy likes the warm tiled floor at the wood stove. Warm in winter, cool in summer. Too bad there’s humans that can’t figure out the obvious.

Riley

The Life of Riley ? Weather heads are sending all the frozen stuff up north from me. Then another head says it depends on how cool it gets ? There very very smart peoples :badmood:.

I got to use my magic powers and redirect this mess, confustion will be the #1 priority :D

Riley aftermath

Well this one got us good ! As it was called a “Winter Bomb Cyclone”

Ma nature figured it was time to trim out all the dead wood, (trees) The big problem was nothing could get cut up if electric lines were involved. Our power company had crews assisting us , fire dept, to downed tree locations just to make sure the lines were dead before we cut up the trees to open roads and or remove off homes. Today they will concentrate on the repair work.

Some out of state elec companies worked with us. Kudos and thank you all. This was a well planned temp fix for a change here :clapping: Still on generator power and surprised cable is still connected.

Perdict another next week as March marches on. Time to refuel as the 6hr time frame is almost up.

Time to batten down the hatches here. 7" to 15" predicted between Sunday noon and Tuesday noon, with 25 - 40 MPH winds. I'll be under the bed if anyone needs me...:cxtv:

Make some room for me on Wednesday :cxtv: !

Cloudy 40. And the power is still out 😢📞

That sucks ! I’m on the border of 2 county’s, usually a storm like Riley would be a 2 to 3 day outage. Surprised me that we were back on as quick as we were. Like you, it looks like a lumber yard here .

Two things holding up the power 1) All the power crews are suning themselves in Puerto Rico ...

2) Christie lives in my town ' But he isn't governor any more so he can't put ln a good word for me 😢😢-📞

Got upgraded from storm watch to storm warning - now it's 5"-10" of heavy snow with freezing drizzle first to slick things up. Doesn't matter - got my plans made:

Didn’t think this thread would get this far :Shrug: Gota share what was reported on local news;

Lower Westchester County in NY is one of the richest one in the state, a reporter interviewed a couple w/o power that has NO back up generator system , well water and it’s 40* in the house. There answer as to why no back up, “We pay a lot to make sure it will never happen” Daaaaah !

Polititions blaming the power companies, again, like they can perdict the outcomes, the weather heads have state of the art machines and still perdict 2–12” I guess that should cover it. :D

A lot of the problem with down wires is when the power companies go to cut trees before a storm as preventive maintenance the home owners don't want the trees cut .....So they just lightly trim them only to have them grow over the lines again in two years or so...

The trimmings usually do well here, it’s the inland large dead ones that fall the wrong way.

I guess it’s up to the tree trimming co’s they hire. Job security if it’s just looks good. Up roots are the best !

Not quite the same but almost......

A few years ago when i was at a town council meeting a blind person sent in a letter and asked if the town could trim the branch's and shrubs that over hang the sidewalks because when he walks to the center of town his seeing eye can't see them but they hit him in the face... The consciences from the council members was , We would first have to send out letters to the homeowner's to ask them to keep the sidewalks clear...Cause if we just trimmed them ourselves without a notice, The homeowners would be at the next meeting with pitchforks and torches... :xzqxz:

They made it official - they think it's serious:

...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM MST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Winds gusting as high as 50

mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant

drifting of the snow is likely. Total snow accumulations ranging

from 3 to 6 inches are expected.

I see they cut the snow total down to 3-6 inches - far cry from the 7-15 they started with. Whatever, going back to bed...
