[h=3]Why you should not use a Battery Tender® on a lithium battery[/h] Here is the simple answer: A Battery Tender® can not measure State of Charge (SoC) of a lithium battery. It simply does not have this capability. While they work great on lead acid batteries, they are not able to accurately “read” lithium batteries. So, they will never properly charge a lightweight lithium battery.

Beyond SoC, the Battery Tender® is looking for a 6 cell battery, with each cell having roughly 2 volts. All lithium lightweight batteries are based on 4 cell packs, with each cell having roughly 3.3 volts. This sends the Battery Tender® a reading that is outside of the safe charging window, and contributes to the incompatibility.

:GoodPost: So is there a charger designated to charge lithium battery’s?

Yes, due to the construction of these batteries the makers will all suggest you use their type of charger

Heat sees to be a big factor withy the charge rate along with amount of time needed

How then, does the bikes charging system charge the battery ??:Santa:

The bikes charging system will do the same as with a convetional battery

In fact most makers of these batteries say put it in and run it

Lithium batteries hold a shelf life charge a lot longer than acid batteries

That said most bike rgulators\ rectifiers will shunt not needed electricity to the atmosphere as heat

I hope the splains it cuz thats all I got;)

Yes , And the people that sell the lithium battery, Will gladly sell you one......:D

But those chargers are more expensive too than your standard battery maintainer. It's just the growing pains of switching to that technology if you will.:)
