Fender Bra's for the Freewheeler

I got mine from brasfortrikes.com. They had long ones for the Tri Glide, but only short ones for the Freewheeler.

I called and requested longer ones for my Freewheeler. The gentleman I spoke to said he could custom make them for me using the pattern for the Freewheeler short bras. I cannot remember his name, sorry.

These pictures were taken right after the installation. If you get them, I suggest you remove the white tags from the inside. They are only "L" and "R" so you don't need them but they were stuck to my fenders the first time I took them off for cleaning.

Randall,

Like I told you in Kerrville, had the salesman or service people told me about the see through before I got rock chips on my Vivid Black Freewheeler I would have had it done.

I have seen it put over chips on a black fender and to me the chips look like big fish eyes.

That combo = fish and chips

Any recommendations on what brand clear paint protection to use & where to get it?

I just want to do the fenders & not the whole HD kit.

Thanks for all of your input & witty banter.

Which Xpel product did you use? They have 5 different products listed.

Xpel Ultimate, Xpel Stealth, Xpel Tracwrap, Xpel Xtreme, Xpel Armor.

Thanks... Carla

Used the Xpel Ultimate. Used on on my 4WD truck and 4WD SUV. Gets hit by rock or scratched by a branch and within one day, you can't find where it was dented or scratched. Had my truck completely covered. It not cheap, but well worth the money. 3 yrs later of off roading and paint does not have a scratch or chip.

Well I contacted both local installers of Xpel Clear Bra & one contacted me back saying that it would be $475 to do the rear fenders on the FW & I about spit coffee on my laptop.

I will have to wait for someone to came out with Bra's for it that are reasonably priced.

I made it back from California with lots of bugs, but no chips I don't want to go the bed liner coating route on them, though I would not mind it on the undercarriage.

Thanks all.

Lola, I purchased and have just installed the same bra set as yours. They look great but I was wondering if the lower edge of your fenders are covered. If they are, do you have more than two snaps on the bottom?

OK, Thanks Lola. I have about 5/16" of my fender showing toward the inside edge. I mounted the snaps as low as possible. Maybe I stretched it upward too much. I may add another snap near the inside one at the front. Patrick sent me some extras.

Dan, I felt the same way. Couldn't find a anything clip-on. If there are no chips, the clear bras would be great. Some have sprayed bed liner type products. I felt the snap install holes would be better than the scuffs and chips.

Thanks RKplus10, I just came to the exact same conclusion! I'm waiting for the perfect product to get developed to stop the chipping on my fenders....meanwhile my fenders are getting chipped, just doesn't make much sense does it!

I live on a dirt road so it's already too late for the clear bras unfortunately.

I'm now considering the spray bedliner route. I agree, I just can't bring myself to drill holes it the fenders.

I am fortunate after a year, not 1 chip & I had well over 3,000 highway miles.:)

Since you do not have any chips, why not use the clear bras?

Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that clear bras existed until it was too late. I have read that many people don't like the bras I have, that they ruin the paint. When I clean my trike, I clean my bras and wax my fenders before I put the bras back on. Even if they do mar the paint, it will not be any worse than the rock chips and I personally think they look better than Line-X or anything I have seen as of today.

If and when I remove the bras and repair the fenders I wouldn't allow any painter incapable of repairing the drilled holes to work on Freewheeler so it doesn't bother me. However, I must admit I left the room as the holes where being drilled.

I do remember that this was discussed a few years ago on this forum, before I bought the ones I have. Someone claimed they did just that.

I saw a Freewheeler not long after that with the Tri Glide bras on it, they were saggy on the top part of the fender where it dips down to the bob tail. I would not have been happy with them on my trike.
