On a 2017 with ~7000 miles on it with the clutch pulled in and either or both brakes applied.

Does fine in neutral but it won't crank while in gear.

It worked a while back then I started noticing it wouldn't work occasionally and now it seems to be all the time.

Any ideas.

I need to take it in sometime to get the Front Fender tip light replaced so I will have them look at it then but was wondering if I was missing something.

Thanks

Bob

Does ur cruise work right? I ask because this is also tied to your brake switch, being a 17 u r covered by warranty. This happened to my 15 Freewheeler by a stupo service manager. I had it in for a leaky rr shock, this NEW stupo came out and jumped on the rear brake pedal asking me if I was sure it wasnt a brake fluid leak. I was so pissed,

I left and called the OWNER who took care of it the next day

HD has had some problems ringing out some of the early 17s as well as the older 15s, Good Luck and check back in

I have had the same problem with my 17 Tri-Glide. There is some sort of electrical switch in the left hand grip that has been replaced two or three times by the dealer for this exact same problem. Initially it happens intermittently then just does not work, have to be in neutral.

On the work order it indicates: 71500135A SWITCHPACK,HC,LH,AUDIO&CR Quantity 1 Price 215.26

LABOR Job Code 6165

Work Description Bike will not start in gear.

Had the same thing happen on my '14... two dealers told me I was crazy, but one actually looked at their service bulletins, ordered the left switch pack, and when it came in a week later, replaced it in about 15 minutes. No charge, warranty work.

I have the Oberon adjustable clutch lever, And if i use the #1 position it won't activate the start switch on the clutch lever when the trans is in gear...But thats not a problem for me, I only use the #2 position....Is seems that' The switch is sensitive for its contact point...

And the proper brake pedal pressure, So i can see how those switches can go bad...

Even my Rhino won't start in gear without stepping hard on the foot brake...I hate those so called safety gismos....Interesting though my Polars ATV will start in gear with out using the brake...

As noted, a switch can go bad and even though the clutch is pulled in and the brake is on, the BCM does not know it and it won't start.

Have had that happen to me several times on different bikes & trikes. Took it in, switch replaced, and all was well.

Scheduled a trip to the Shop

Scheduled it in the shop for next Friday.

They will check this out as well as the Front Fender Light and Flash the computer to have the passing lights on all the time.

Should have it back on Saturday if they don't have to order any parts.

Thanks for all the replies

Bob
