Installing HD Paint Guard Kit #83989-10A

We recently purchased the kit to apply to Nancy's black '17 Tri Glide. I've read the instructions & will have the paint clean; will have the baby shampoo/distilled water mix & 70% isopropyl alcohol/distilled water mix; will have a squeegee.

Can I get any feedback from those who have installed this kit on their own what to look out for? I've installed some window tint in my home, but would imagine this to be a different challenge.

Advice is appreciated!

Alternative suggestion:

LineX, can be applied in color match or a contrasting color. Even in a "design", such as flames towards the top of the fenders. Cover more area than the HD kit.

I just did mine 2 days ago. I did the side covers first. Just to get a feel for them. I used plenty of the shampoo solution. When I took the backing off the film, I sprayed the film with the solution. That way you can move it around till you get it where you want it. Squeegee the bubbles from the center out. Real easy.

Once you get the bubbles out and your happy where the film is, I used a soft cloth to dab lightly to get the excess solution off. Use the squeegee to get one of the corners up, peel back about half way and use the alcohol solution and lay it back down, making sure it has no bubbles. Then peal the other half up and do the same thing. After you do a couple pieces, you'll get the hang of it. After it sets up a while, go back and make sure it's ok. Good luck. Jerry

I tried the HD kit and after several frustrating hours of trying to get it to fit, pulled it off and called SeeThroughBraz (a sponsor of this site) for some help. Ordered their trike kit and couldn't be happier......with the product but more so the customer support.

I bought a 24" x 8' roll of 3M on the web for $55

Made my own templates (for future use) and did it myself. Yes the compound curves are a REAL BITCH . Just take your time. I hurred too much on one of the fenders - lots of small bubbles - not going to redo - still looks OK to me. Most people don't even see them.
