Got error 404
I get a prompt from Google to sign in with my Email..........
I already am as I use a chromebook. I still get the same thing as Frank. Good morning Bob :Coffee:
Well not quite 2 hours and the tires cooled off.
Guess what folks??
36psi cold............funny how it got there.
Well crud, I washed the Trike today. Just went out and looked at the Avon front tire. Time to buy a new one I guess. I was hoping to make to May. But I guess 25,000 miles is all I can get from it safely. Not too bad..
That's some serious miles for to me so far a lightweight tire. Since we both have Motor Trike kits. What psi cold have you kept it at?? More important question if you don't mind. Whats an average ride like for you??Pleasure, running errands or mostly highway at high speed??
Im curious because I find for me. Over 50mph this tire handles so differently then it does just cruising around town at 35mph. For me anyway it does. Im trying to give it some time for me to get used to the feel.
I'm finding it very different then the MPA which is the only front tire Ive had on the bike. I killed that one in 15K miles.
I'm sorry if it sounded like I was pounding on you - I wasn't. What I'm primarily referring to is the notoriously weak OEM front end on the GL1800. I am personally convinced that this is not inherent in the tires. I have the Traxxion AK-20 cartridges and stronger Traxxion springs on my trike and through four tires I have had no cupping; two BT45 and two Avon Cobra Trike tires. I run two up and heavy. I really wish Honda would address this.
what kind of mileage did you get with the Cobra tire ????
Yes, too much. I never bop around town on it. It is all highway miles. I love to take my day off once a weeks and ride. I think my personal high for one day off was 550 mile. We take one big trip every year, maybe 2400 to 2800 mile.
I had the MPA, it was OK I got 23K mile out of it, but really noisy compared the the Avon. I love the Avon, super smooth and quiet and handles better. Just ordered a new one. I do not even get a year out of those front tires. I guess I ride too much. Pushing 49K. I run 41 lbs cold. My short rake rides so much smoother at 41. I ran softer and felt ever single crack and bump and it felt strange with lower pressure.
I have never even ridden a trike before I bought this one. Never even test rode one. First time I rode it was the 380 mile ride home. I got used to it pretty quick.
Not being negative here but. Funny. Im feeling everything you feel running at the higher pressures. I raise it and feel everything, lower the psi and I happy with the ride?? How opposite can 2 people be?? I was pretty happy with my MPA till it just cupped too much running it at a low psi of 36 for a 15K miles.
That's really strange. What size tires are you running on the back? Wonder it that makes a difference? I have 245 R45 17.
Ive got over 1 k miles on the new tire and my feelings toward it are still pretty much the same.
Ive kept it at 40psi this whole time. I find Im feeling the road a lot more in the front end then I did when I had a heavier rear tire on the front.
The tire rides smooth at highway speeds and handle's well. Its just has a twitchy feeling to it.
The heavier rear tire gave me a bit more confidence while maybe not as smooth a ride.
This isn't a bad tire so don't let my feelings change anyones mind about trying it.
My preferences are just different then most who have bought the Avon.
So I feel I should report back in every once in a while about it as I progress with it.
A MPA it isn't and one shouldn't expect it to be similar in ride and feel. It just isn't the same. No bad overall just different.
We have mounted the Avon trike tire for several trike customers and have received great comments from all of them about how it rides and handles. We don't have any history yet how long they last, but as soon as I get some verified results I'll post again.
