I have a 2015 Tri Glide that I bought new in May, 2015. I have had a lot of problems with it. I have listed them all below. I am posting this to get feedback / comments from other Tri Glide owners to see if others have had similar issues.
Below is my history after one year ofownership:
3,466 miles, noticed something leaking on my garage floor, turned out to be a shock so the dealer had to install a new shock.
3,466 miles, on this visit to the shop, I asked the service manager to show me where the battery tender connection was (I thought I was not smart enough to figure this out), turns out all I had was 2 bare wires, a connection was never installed at the factory.
4,953 miles, the air suspension system would not hold air, took it to the dealer and they found a line that was broken, had to be replaced.
4,953 miles – on the same visit to the dealer, the service manager said “you have a missing button.” I say what button, he said the trigger button.
I was never aware I had a trigger button, because it rolled off the factory floor (in China???) without the trigger button.
This is not a big deal, except just one more example of poor quality at the factory.
6,691 miles – THE BIG ONE - I was riding down the interstate in Arkansas and a rocker arm broke, stranding me beside the interstate. I ended up staying 6 nights at a hotel in Little Rock waiting to get this fixed. Anyone ever heard of a rocker arm breaking at less than 7,000 miles??
7,181 miles – took the TG to my local dealer for a pre-trip inspection. While on the way to the dealer a new noise developed in / around the engine. The dealer found a loose bolt on the engine.
11,300 miles – I was in South Dakota a couple weeks ago and a problem developed with the alternator / charging system. My volt meter would all of a sudden fall below 12, and sometimes the battery discharge light would come on. This happened at least one time every day. Fortunately we were able to make it home, but I was pretty concerned about getting stranded again.
11,300 miles – on the South Dakota trip my trunk started popping open while riding down the road.
We always had the trunk pretty full but fortunately I don’t think we lost anything.
11,300 miles – when the trike is fully warmed up, it sounds like crap when it idles. If I am at a stop light I roll on the accelerator and get it up to 1,500 RPM so it does not die.
And my EITMS is disabled. This has only developed after the rocker arm problem.
11,300 miles – I don’t think the power is the same as it was before the rocker arm blew up. From a stand still it seems to struggle taking off. And also the top end power does not seem to be right. I was coming home last week, had the cruise set on 70 mph, and at times it struggled to maintain 70 mph.
11,300 miles – noticed a small spot where it appears the paint is bubbling. This is not a roadchip, I think it is a flaw in the paint job.
I called the Harley Customer Service line this week and told them I think I have a lemon. They said I need to sort it out with the dealer. I told them the dealer only sold the motorcycle, the dealer is not responsible for the manufacture.
So….my question to other TG owners, has anyone had this many issues?
Is this normal? Seems excessive to me. I really like my Harley, and it is hard to see me riding anything else, but this is getting pretty frustrating.
Comments / thoughts??
