My new 16 got stuck on reverse, twisting the throttle in gear made the reverse wind loudly, i had to engage disengage a few times to free it. Is there a known Issue I should speak to the dealer about?

Did you shut it off in reverse? Or stop on an incline while in reverse? Mine did it once when I shut it off while in reverse and on a slight incline. Since then I put it back in first before shutting down and have never had that happen again. I have no idea why it happened, but just know it hasn't happened since I started putting it in gear before killing it after using reverse.

Odds are the dealer will tell you there are no know issues, Do a search on the reverse motor on this Forum, You will have an hour of reading,, Back to your problem some times if you stop abruptly on an incline the reverse motors gear will jam in the reverse ring gear.. It happens, rocking the trike back and forth will free it.... The reverse in the Tri-Glide is not a true reverse but its an reverse assist..

When you are backing up, before you stop rolling let off the reverse button & let the gear get pushed back out of the pulley gear.
It works like a starter bendix drive. When the motor is powered it is being pushed into the driven gear. There is little clearance between the gears, so it will stay engaged. It is spring loaded so it will come back out if the driven gear can turn a little to help push the drive gear out.
Never stop reverse with the brake. Always let it roll free.
I always go forward very carefully after using reverse to make sure it is free. Otherwise you will purchase a starter motor for $1400+.
Never use a grease on the gears because it will pickup dirt & debris & create more problems. You can use a dry graphite spray that will help a bit.

To avoid the purchase of an expensive starter (reverse) motor, any motor repair shop can easily rebuild your reverse motor for much, much less money than a new one will cost.

Yeah, I don't see the big deal. Operate it correctly, park smartly, and almost all issues can be avoided. I've used it twice or more a day for the last two and a half seasons on my '14 and it seems to be just doing fine. Batteries charge. At a hundred bucks or so a re-build, that would still be a lot cheaper than a mechanical unit over the life of the trike. And of that hour of reading about people's issues with them, half of the posts in this and the other forum are probably from the same ten guys or less.
