So, spent yesterday and today packing up the RV, family car and hooking up the jeep to the Rv in preparation of having to evacuate. There is a forest fire burning within 1 mile of our home and at the present time, it is not contained. Over 1,800 firefighters working on it along with many aircraft. Not a fun day. We have not been given the word to leave as yet, but many of my neighbors have already left the area. Hoping for the best. California is great, but dealing with the fires sure turns the smile to a frown. Had a friend let me leave the Trike with him as he is several miles away and is in a very secure farm type setting with little to no brush/trees. Thank God for good friends.

Sorry to hear that Roy!! So many fires already this year!! It's going to be a rough one. God Speed.
We'll be praying for everyone out there. :xszpv::xszpv:

Sorry to hear about whats going on with the fires. I will say a few prayer for several good rains in your area. Remember to stay safe and get out of there if you need to, things can be replaced, you can't.

Been a bad year for these tragic events so far, & its only the beginning according to the "experts".
Hoping you get thru it without any loss of life & or property.
Sounds like you had a plan for this, & it might very well save you from much headache when all is said & done.
Stay safe.

Fires, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes, where to go, where to go, and when is always a consideration it seems. Don't hesitate, you can always return, but you can't always escape. The will of nature is far too often destructive. I wish you wellness with home and health.

I am still here. :0) The fire has slowed and turned a bit so we are not in the path of the fire at this time. If the wind were to come up....that would be a different story. Still packed and will remain packed for another day or two. So far no homes have been lost. The fire is being fought primarily by aircraft. The terrain is so steep in the American River Canyon that ground equipment and men cannot do very much. Some jack ass has been flying a drone over the fire which in turn, causes all fire suppression from aircraft to stop. The aircraft cannot fly if a drone is in their airspace for obvious safety reasons. Our aircraft were grounded for an hour yesterday and an hour the day before because of the drone flying in the airspace above the fire. Jerk Anyway, thank you all for your words of encouragement.

Why in The world didn't the authorities clear the air space Long enough to shoot the drone down? Seems that would have been the obvious thing to do immediately.

WE understand about wild fire getting so close. In 2011 when Texas was having so many wildfires one got as close to our home as across the street with embers flying into our yard and on the roof. THe firefighters were able to keep it at bay. WE had evacuated out to our motor home where it was stored and had no idea if the house had survived until they let people back in. It was ok but we had to have a professional cleaning service come in to get the smoke smell out of the house. IT was frightening. Remain vigil and we send our thoughts and prayers your way.

You can bet there are plenty of my friends and neighbors who would gladly blow that sucker out of the sky had we actually seen it ourselves. There has got to be a way for our emergency services personnel to get that type of problem resolved.

Like you said, clear air space and take it out. It is only a matter of time until the actions of some idiot flying his drone in a careless manner that causes some innocent loss of property and or life. Lock and load!
