I can only shake my head at the latest excuse....

when I bought my Venture two years ago it had the CD changer in the left saddlebag. That was removed (now sitting on my basement floor) when I had the Venture triked. I would like to figure out something to do with the Cassette space....maybe a small storage space. Really had to remove it though since I do use the Aux plug to play music from my phone and Ipod.
Maybe go to a place that specializes in installing marine entertainment systems in boats? I'll bet they would have something to fit the hole. Or just something that you can Bluetooth an ipod or iphone through. Those are the ticket. You can put thousands of songs on them and just have to scroll to what you want. Put phone/pod on a Ram mount so you can use it without getting yourself killed.

Editing because I didn't read the part about aux plug...:qpnmt:

Already have ram mount for my phone/Ipod and I run a short wire to the Aux. Works fine and cheaper then installing new system so will stick with it for now...

Still no trike. He missed two scheduled delivery dates this week and when I woke up Friday night for work, there was an email telling me that he would not deliver until I made full payment prior to his delivery.

That will not happen since I want to road test and check the trike over top to bottom, front to back. Last time I got it, my CB was disconnected and a few other issues which I corrected myself. Plus, he was supposed to send me an itemized bill prior to delivery and all he did was say you owe me this amount.

Also, he says the missed Friday's delivery because he was getting the trike from the impound lot. Seems he took it home with him to MA so that he could leave straight from his house to deliver. He took it out of the trailer and was doing a road test (front wheel had been installed) and forgot to put a dealer plate on (I have plate and registration with me). A MA state cop stopped him and impounded my trike but he was able to load trike into the enclosed trailer so they towed the trailer with trike inside. Cop also wanted to know why it had a 2017 inspection sticker if he had no plate or registration with the trike???

I'm not dealing with this :qpnmt: any more. Monday morning I'll be checking out some lawyers and set up an appointment. I will have 20 months of emails and texts which will show all the BS he gave me and also what he said he would do but never did. I might be able to sue under "Negligent Misrepresentation". If not, I'm sure the lawyer will come up with something based on the documents I show him.

Normally I would feel bad for the guy but in this case it doesn't bother me.

I'm sorry about all the trouble you are having with your trike build. Being nosy, how did start near your home and get transferred to Ky for something, then back near your home again? What couldn't the builder do at his shop?

If there is a thread regarding all this, just give me a link so you won't have to re-hash it again. I know it has to be painful.:AGGHH:

I'd have killed him (figuratively speaking of course).

DblTrbl I have been following this and the other thread regarding the pitfalls of dealing with this shop. I had a similar experience with him and recently a friend with a trike that was converted at this shop discovered some hidden problems as well. It's never ending with this guy. He seems to mean well and glitches aside he's a nice guy but the lack of communication and just way out excuses lead me to conclude to never deal with him again. If you have problems with your bike, PM me please and I can refer you to a reputable and professional shop that's not too far away.

DblTrbl, seems like you've had far more than double trouble, ever think about changing that handle? I've never been superstitious, but I'm beginning to sway, :D. Man, I would be so frustrated by now if I were you, not having it resolved after 20 months or more. You seem relatively calm about the entire ordeal. I'd be like a Tasmanian devil, if I were experiencing your ordeal. Maybe that handle means something different than I'm taking it to be. I'd even wonder if he had been :GL1800: it for 19 of those months. :AGGHH: You must have the patience of Job, I'd feel like doing this:

I was wondering when you'd be contacting a lawyer.
No trike build should take almost 2 years, a month maybe with complications.
Having been in the trike business I had my sources for whatever I needed to have done.
The guy operates a shop in NH and lives in MA?
I don't feel sorry for the shop owner, he's some kind of crook.
For all you've been through and the deception, excuses and then your trike gets impounded. Its time to seek legal advice.

I've been contacted (unsolicited) by several people which have shared their nightmare of dealing with this :qpnmt:. Some are still waiting for their trikes and or other items that should have been completed and returned to the owners long ago. They are still getting empty promises of when their property will be complete,

Thank you to those who have contacted me and shared your story. If you know of anyone else who has or is going through this kind of treatment dealing with this shop, PLEASE have them PM me with their side of the story.

I know some are worried because he still has their property, well he still has mine also but enough is enough...I must take a stand.
I will not use your names or contact info without your permission. I will however print out your communication to provide to the attorney along with my 20 months of emails and texts just to show I'm not alone in this.

At this time I'm looking at "Negligent Misrepresentation" but there are some grey areas there so will leave that up to the attorney.

Also, this morning I will be contacting the local TV station to inquire about if they do "Investigative Reporting"? If so, I will share info with them and let them run with this.

There are too many outright GOOD dealers out there and the BAD ones need to be stopped.

Ok, off my soapbox for now.

Again, I appreciate any information you folks who have been misled by this shop owner can provide.

You have more patience than anyone I know,if it were mine someone would have got a good old fashion a$$ whooping by now.

The sad thing that is happening is part of what is going on with the custom bike building world and those who are part of it. This is an article about a company with mismanagement and taking the customer's money and providing no bike: http://cyrilhuzeblog.com/2016/03/25...ints-for-custom-bikes-paid-and-not-delivered/
People like this ruin it for those of us who run an honest business. I hate the thought of government regulations up my @ss because of these individuals and their cheating ways.
A good law suit, complaints register with the State AG, news media and people who have been taken by this shop. Get as many people as you can who have had issues with this shop and the owner will be in for one heck of a bumpy ride through the legal system. Hopefully when they're done with him he won't have a shop.

Unbelievable. Who is this guy?

Tell me about it. He sure has been nice not to name that builder on the open forum. If all is true about the emails he has (and I'm sure it is), there would be no slander or libel case the guy could ever file for running down his name.

How about a little undercover detective work? The trike travels from MA to NH and a visit to the Hannigan site, I find a shop with two locations one in MA and the other in NH and an owner with 40 years of experience. Is this the mystery builder? or is this shop innocent?
Draw your own conclusion? :xzqxz:
In a court of law we are all presumed innocent.

In Feb I actually flew to Nashville, rented a car and drove to Murray. I walked in behind him with the general manager by my side. Surprised the crap out of him....he asked what I was doing there.....my reply: I came to see if you actually brought my trike to get fixed and was working on it!!

He has been back from KY since the last week of Feb and all he had to do is get a chrome rim for the front of my trike, mount the tire and put on my fender tips and get me the trike. He just put the rim on last Wed. I don't even know if the tips are on.

I ordered both the tips and chrome rim in Oct 2014 and again in Nov 2015....he blames the latest delay on waiting on the chrome shop!!!

Also, I have the contact info for the local new paper and the tv station. I will be contacting the tv station this morning and inquiring if they do investigating reporting and then if they do, share my story and see if they are interested in doing a report.

As the owner of the vehicle you have a right to know the status.
I sent rims out for chrome plating and with back and forth shipping it took two weeks, the shop that did my powder coating had my parts back to me in 5 business days if they were gloss black and I wasn't far from the shop to carry them in. I was in the trike business from 2000 to 2009 and in 2016/2017 I'll be returning to repairs and then onto trikes. I'm wondering if he isn't using other customer's money for the completion of other projects like the article I placed the link to in one of my threads, not a good idea. By chance did you pay for the chrome tips and rim in advance?
I hope the news media does take interest as too many good people are getting taken to the cleaners by shysters.

I gave him my 09 Royal Star Tour Deluxe as a down payment. He credited my account $8200 (Nov 2014). I have not paid him a dime since. I will not until I see an itemized bill for both parts and labor. My RSTD is still sitting in his showroom and he has removed the Mustang touring seats and aftermarket exhaust. He replaced them with the OEM parts which I took in with the bike. He has it priced at over $11,000....might explain why it's still sitting there!!

I hope the news media takes an interest because it they do, I'm going to suggest I set up an appointment to meet with him to get the itemized bill and pay (if everything is ok)....I want the tv crew to show up with me and document that he doesn't have anything ready. I also want to contact another guy who still has stuff at his shop to see if he will be part of this so we can document why it's been over a month for a 2 day turnaround and why his vehicle now has a broken lens cover when all he did was take it in for an electrical connector to be changed.

He sounds a lot like the guy I worked for, he took the aftermarket items off and put them on Ebay. Most of the bikes he sold were way over priced and real junk. He sold a guy a GL1200, it blew the head gasket and he refused to fix the bike, the end result was not a very happy customer. Changed the gauges on one and gave the bike less miles.
I believe that bringing another dissatisfied customer and letting the news media know that you are not alone would probably bring even more interest.
I wonder where he finds the techs he has working there? Must not pay them much. :AGGHH:
If you notice in my signature line it says, "International Master Bike Builders Association Technician II Certification". You have to prove yourself and earn that, it's easy to get but hard to hold onto if you start to screw up.

word is, he can't keep a technician. got this info from the guys at the Harley shop a couple miles from him. they all have know him for many years and have a million stories just like mine...

After a long phone conversation with Zook this morning, I am going to provide info about the shop which has and is, causing so many good people nightmares.

Doug Mulligan
American Trike and Motorsports
223 Winchester St
Keene, NH

He also owns the following shop but I have never dealt with them and I believe he does most of the work on trikes at the Keene shop:

Cycle Design
305 State Rd
Phillipston, MA

Doug is a very likeable guy and will promise you the world and more but he just never comes through. He misses delivery dates and has a bottomless cup of excuses non of which are ever his fault.

You have been warned. Deal with him at your own risk!!

I am sure if you asked the independent shops in the area, you'd get a lot of interesting horror stories from them too. Must do a lot of underhanded stuff and the techs want no part of it.
He might be a likable person but, he has to accept the truth that he is responsible for the screw ups and not blame others. If he was to send the rim off to be chrome plated, don't point the finger at the chrome shop for the delay, because three fingers are pointing right back at him.
He also sounds like he has very poor project planning skills and no 'Build Sheet' for the build.
Another thing I am trying to figure out is, does he know what he's doing and is he really a trike builder? It's kind of like me wearing a shirt that reads "Cessna Airplanes, Take Flight in Style" and I don't know the first thing about flying a plane :cxtv:.
I agree with you sending a warning to the future trike buyer, buyer beware :AGGHH:.

Sounds like a liberal interpretation of: "Nice guys finish last." Beware of willingness with unrealistic promises! Sometimes things sound to good to be true. The portrait painted sounds like our average politician. :gah:

Excuses

I'm not a M/C mechanic, but I have lived some
life in my 75 years, and not being glued to a screen one thing stands out perfectly clear:

IF YOUR WORD IS NO GOOD IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE IS, YOU'RE JUST TAKING UP SPACE ON AN ALREADY OVER CROWDED PLANET AND ARE ADDING TO THE PROBLEM AND NOT PART OF THE SOLUTION.

WHAT GOES AROUND...WELL YOU KNOW HOW IT GOES

Wish I'd had him with me in Cambodia/Laos
In '70.
You wouldn't have to be dealing with him today! nuff sed

ok folks THE BUILD IS FINALLY FINISHED!!!

Took the trike back Tuesday morning. they went over the front end taking measurements, removing the wheel and rechecking...
After 4 hours they called me back and showed me that it was the front end was ok.

I questioned the amount of air in the front tire. they had it at 42. We changed it to 33 psi. also, I was told that James checked the front forks. Seems there was very little air in them. He pumped it up to 7 psi.

OMG....the vibration in gone and it is handling like a luxury car!!

Thanked everyone in the shop (including the owner). I even called for a truce....time to look forward and ride, ride, ride.

Thanks everyone for your support through the entire ordeal.

Ohh, and something else that made my day. About 12 miles outside of Keene, I had to slow down and ease past a bull moose standing next to the shoulder of my lane. Medium size fellow with horns in full velvet. They looked like my forearm and fist....

Well of course we need to see pictures of this long awaited treasure!! I hope that you never need warrenty work, or at least nothing serious. But hopefully you will have many miles with many smiles!

I'll be getting some pics and maybe a short video of the diamond cut cylinder covers once I get the pollen off the trike...

On the other hand, it is a cool look with the red paint and just a bit of a yellow/green tint........

Another thing--with that many LED lights, you'll be hard to miss at night. If somebody hits you, they would have to be sleep driving.

The RSTD I used to own had quite a few blue LEDs on it around the engine. Made it easy to see at night, that's for sure.
