Received my Comfort Lift Kit from DK Custom Products a couple of days ago and installed it this morning. Took a couple of hours, could do it in an hour second time around. Went for a ride and to my surprise I could tell a difference in the ride like others on the forum have said. I was a little skeptical but it actually does ride a little better. As with everything else I have ordered from DK fit and finish was first rate.

Out of curiosity, what tools and equipment are necessary to install the DK lift kit? I would assume a floor jack and jack stands are a must, and maybe a creeper.

You can do one side at a time, so only a jack will do it.
I used jack stands so I could do both while it was up.
Common tools, 3/4 inch open/box end wrench, and can't remember what the other 2 are off the top of my head. Left side take out one bolt so the emergency brake can be moved.
Take your time it's simple enough.

I used a jack and jack stands. 3/4" wrench for the shock bolt and 9/16" for the shock mount bolts. If I remember it was a 6mm hex wrench for the emergency brake bracket. There are two socket head bolts that hold it on. I removed both and tied the bracket out of the way to the side. I used red locktite for the shock bolts and blue locktite for the shock bracket and emergency bracket bolts. Instructions come with the kit.

Comfort Lift Kit was a nice improvement to our FW. Put the kit on in my garage, a couple jack stands just in case, and I have a bike lift/jack that worked out nice. Do not recall anything about relocating a "Z-pipe"!!

Replaced my lift with comfort lift from DK, so this is my second time doing this. I agree with reading the instructions. By the way, both does the job of lifting the rear with noticeable smoother bounce for the comfort lift.

Here is a set of instructions to a different brand. I am *NOT* endorsing this brand, or trying to push it off whatsoever, just to put it in plain English. But I would imagine they are pretty close to being the same instructions, since the product looks identical.

1. I hope this helps.

2. I hope this doesn't get me in trouble with the powers that be. :cxtv:

So,,,,, how did it go??

Thanx for thinking of me, but I had more to do than just installing the "Comfort Lift Kit". With 6,K miles on me Freewheeler I planning to loosen the drive belt, and tighten up the emergency brake too.

I guess I'm dense, but I didn't want to just put jack stands up under the rear fork frame. My H-D trike repair manual is specific about jack points, but not how to jack up the REAR end. And I'm not alone ~ when I searched under rear+jack+point, several other members, who work in their driveways like me, also were hesitant to just put them anywhere. In the end, there were damn few spaces they would fit up there.

I have a 2014 "Premium Comfort Lift Kit" instruction sheet. Although it tells you to "raise rear of trike until rear tire are off the ground" I guess I needed different words like "rear fork" (which is HD-speak) Rear Swingarm (Lehman-speak) or "K" frame, which is self-explanatory. Also, the "Z-pipe" (HD called it the "connector pipe" P/N 65600103) didn't come into play in Freewheeler install.

I'm familiar with trike belt adjustments from my 2009 Lehman Raider. I knew, months ago, that the FLRT belt felt too tight, but I didn't know exactly how tight it was. Since I had both rear wheels off and most of the pinch bolts out anyway, I loosened the belt, from 3/16" to 3/8".

I'm no speed demon. Cleaning all the holes and threaded bolts, and coating them all with Loctite took almost a 1/2 hour. The whole project took the best part of a day. But like a turtle, slow and steady, I eventually get it done. Off the jack stands, I adjusted the headlight, and I'm a happy Triketalk member

Does it ride smoother? I don't care ~ I installed the lift kit because I didn't want to scrap my mufflers on the curb (again :gah:)

When I purchased my freewheeler I ordered many 'add ons' . one of them was the comfort lift kit from d k . I rode the first thousand miles with stock suspension . put lift kit on trike and YES it does make a huge improvement in ride and feels like front end is lighter , easier to steer .*

I myself have been reluctant to do this mod for my own foolish reasons. But I am going to jump on the band wagon and do it too. I got the Comfort Lift on the way from DK Customs, lots of great reviews.

I would like just a little more muffler clearance myself for when the wifes on the trike and were loaded down for a long ride. Also if the Comfort Lift eases the steering and makes the Freewheeler ride a little smoother, well that will be a plus as well.

Ride Safe All, :)

I think you will be well pleased with it.
