Can I change the break in oil on my Tri Glide myself or do I have to get the dealer to do it so as not to void the warranty? I know the warranty laws differ from state to state, does anyone know if I can do it in New Jersey and not void it. Do you change the primary and tranny oil as well?
Thanks

Break in oil is an misnomer, Manufactures stop using Break in oil decades ago.... The first oil change is at one thousand miles.. And yes you can change it yourself without voiding the warranty.. Just keep ALL Receipts...And use the recommend type oil and filter....

The 1000 mile service is more than just an oil & filter change. Check your owners manual or better yet your factory service manual (if you have one). The checks for loose/missing fasteners is a major part of the 1000 mile check.

Do what the owners manual or preferably what the service manual says for the 1000 mile service. Keep records/document and keep all purchase invoices for products. Use factory spec products in the proper weights and your good to go. The dealer can not void your warranty in any way if you do the work correctly.

I purchased the service manual's (yes manual's, one for touring models and the supplemental trike manual that goes with it) the day I bought my Freewheeler. Pricey but a must have in my opinion.
