I just went over 500 miles today on my Freewheeler today. :pepper: My dealership recommends maintenance at 500 miles. Just wondering how many people with Freewheelers had maintenance done at 500 miles?
Thanks!

I changed my oil at 100 miles and again at 500 miles . Just personal preference. As screwball said the first service is at 1000 miles.

Yep. First suggested service is at 1000. Like you, I know a guy that changed his fluids like you do. Normally, he goes 3000 between after break-in. At end of season, he changes fluids, rides it for 5 miles, then puts it in storage. Then at beginning of the next season, he changes it yet again. I think this is a bit much, but as you say it's personal preference.

Part of it depends on how long it sits during winter storage. Mine sits for at least 6 months here in MT. so you can bet I change fluids before I ride again. My dad always said changing oil is cheap insurance. Not necessary to do it more than recommended but I plan on riding this until the motor no longer runs and farther.

If I was going to trade it off for another bike/ trike every couple of years id just change fluids according to the HD book.

My personal preference is an oil change every 2500 miles but I ride the pig snot (scuse the expression) out of my motor. I do not abuse it ever but I run it as my neighborhood dictates. 85 / 90 MPH all day long here in MT. is common. I follow the HD manual on all the other fluid changes and have never had an issue.

I change oil @ 500 miles again @ 1000, the primary and tranny got the service @ 500, not again til 5000
The key to service is keeping your air intake clean, the dirty incoming air along with internal wear is gona kill your oil quicker
JMO
No one touches my bike cept for warranty work

I had mine done at 1 thousand [Tri-Glide] and the next one was at 5 thousand on the odometer , Which is 4 thousand on the oil..
The dealer did both labor free, Just pay for oil and filter...And i trust my dealer to do it right...ThumbUp... Now i have them change the oil every 6 thousand miles [On the oil.]
