How many of you have put heavy duty springs on the front of a Goldwing Trike like Progressive or Traxxion and does it help or is it a waste of money ?

I say it makes the front to harsh! I'm running OEM springs and 36psi in the front tire. Very happy!ThumbUp
They all do wear out! Replaced mine at 32K with free OEM take offs from my installer!
I'd guess you were running that 42psi or so in those tires? Never understood where that came from? Try 36psi and you will see a huge improvement.Ive a lehman with a 3.5 degree rake front After I got it the missus and I rode a couple of thousand miles and didnt like the ride. With all of the construction around here all of the time the Honda springs were just too weak. My first choice I tried were Progressives. A good spring for the money. Adding the springs also gained me another 1 inch plus of ground clearance because the suspension doesnt sag like stock. But now when you add an MPA ot BT45 tire you change the ride. The bias ply tires let you feel every joint and ripple as compared to the Bridgestone radial which eats up the bumps and irregularities in the road. You can try running a lower number fork oil,I tried 5 wt and it was too weak but gave a nice ride. My next choice was I called Traxxion and talked to them about springs. Ive had a set of Traxxion springs about 5 years now. Theyre not much different than the Progressives and basically the same results. The last piece in all of this that helped restore a smooth ride like the stock springs and radial was the Avon trike tire. With Traxxion springs and the Avon trike tire to me it has a nice smooth ride and great handling. Yeah the MPA and BT45 are cheaply priced tires and ride Ok but they still dont have a smooth ride as a radial. On our trike I ride 2 up 99% of the time. Between the Missus and I we dont hit Hondas weight limit at all. But the way trikes are made with more weight on the front wheel and then add a rake kit, finding the ride for you can be a bit of a challenge.

Thanks for the info.Tom I tried as low as 36 .I wound up because of lower pressures cupping the tire. Even at the lower pressure those tires dont ride as smooth as the Avon. I wont go back to them.
