Group,

what are your thought. I am thinking about the bra. But I'm curious on if it can stay on in all weather. Plus how it affects paint ? Thoughts would be great!

I am am leaning towards them.

I use neither

All I have is small rubber pads of some sort on shiney, no chips on my fenders but a few scuffs (buffed out) from Brides first few attempts to get in her seat. We discussed issues we will not have that problem again.:Shrug:ride safely fearless

Bra vs film

This has/is a highly controversial subject within the confines of this site. Seems the majority of riders prefer the clear film over the bras though.

Just for opinion though let me interject my observation:

1. Bras are good if you maintain them I.E. you need to remove them occasionally to clean/dry your painted surface.

2. The various clear films range in price greatly but if applied properly do a fantastic job and will protect your paint for a long time.

3. I've heard that you can remove the film if damaged or turns yellow (but have not tried that on my trike).

Currently I have the HD film kit on my trike (over 5 yrs now) and although I like it I have seem better looking results with 3M type films.

Again, just my 2 cents,

Good luck on your results!

Not that mine have been on forever....But I had the SunTek Clear Bra installed on my 15 Tri Glide. 6700 Miles later and it looks great - and has stood up to gravel / Bugs and anything else that has attacked the bike to date {including a sometimes lazy passenger boot}. The SunTek product is slightly thicker than the 3M, but not enough to be noticed. It also has a healing property that is very cool. A couple of times I've had a healthy stone nick in the film. Left the bike out in the sun and the damn stuff heals itself....pretty cool,

I'd give it a look....I'd also suggest you put the film from the bottom of the fender across the top all the way to the taillight. It will help to protect the fender from passenger loading issues and puts the barley noticeable line much further back and much harder to see.

And again - Just my opinion - jc

:AGGHH: Here we go again!!! I had the HD fender bras on my 2009 Tri-Glide with no problems. When I traded for the 2013 the fender bras were transferred to the new TG. Ther was NO dirt, discoloration or anything on the 2009 red fenders!! I do not remove the fender bras when washing, waxing. I get lots of compliments on the fender bras. Looks much sharper than that filmy stuff some have on their trikes....jmo!!!!

LOL - I tend to agree that the bra's, if kept clean, will not harm the paint. But I just preferred the "No look" protection as opposed to the bra look. And so far, I don't have Filmy Stuff on my fenders....That kinda cracked me up.

I tend to overkill sometimes. On another thread it was asked if it was best to put either a bra or film over a scratch. Of course if the film went on the scratch would have to be buffed out or repainted.

I would repair the scratch, and use a most excellent sponsor of this site - See Thru Bras - for the film, and then put the bra over it, because I like the look. Gloria doesn't like the bra look, so we just have the film on the 1800 Champion. (You know how it goes: If Mamma ain't happy...)

Over time even the softest substance will wear a surface (Water is pretty soft, but look what it did out in Arizona) so the film under the bra may seem a bit overboard, but it will protect the surface from the protection.

I guess the key is be pro-active on preventive care.. :)

Thanks for the info.

Were you able to put it on yourself?

Hey Don. I friend and I both have 14"s Tri Glides. And we both agreed with putting on the leather fender guards from Harley. Just under $ 100.00 and they go on easy. Plus you can clean under them which is a good thing. I seen other trikes out here in Arizona and their fenders are beat up and stone chipped. Looks terrible from any angle. Love these things. ThumbUp

I did not put it on myself - But most likely it would not have been that hard. Installation was very affordable, so I went with the pros.
