Picked it up Monday evening after having the 5K done and was just about home when the check engine light came on, to late to get it back to the dealer before closing. Called Tuesday morning and asked if I could swing by after work and have the codes checked, they said no problem, so I did. Service writer accessed the codes and it had 3 active so ended up leaving it and now waiting for call to find out what's up.

Red,

Had a very similar experience with my FLRT - dealer, LEHD - charged me and did not actually resolve the issue - appeared again within 50 miles running. I had to take it to another dealer SEHD to get it fixed......

(Just make sure your dealer is good at fixing the FLRT....)

Charged you? Didn't the warranty cover it?

you need to complain to HD. Insist on talking to the regional rep at the least. ANY HD DEALER must take care of warrantee items and bill the factory. Doesn't matter if you took it to any other dealer. They need to be made to refund your money.

Not sure on mine yet, haven't heard from the dealer. I didn't think of it until after I left but should have written them down.

Just got a call from the dealer; all 3 codes (didn't get them yet) were related to the rear O2 sensor, needs to be replaced. Won't have part until tomorrow but said they would try and get it taken care and back to me sometime tomorrow (not holding my breath on that).
Red,

Diagnostic time

All are independent franchises and can charge for the diagnostic time even if the repair is a covered components. Generally HD does not pay the dealer for that, and most dealers eat that time, but not all. And as for a regional rep, HD no longer uses any regional service reps. Most issues can be resolved at the dealer level, and like any service business can choose there own policies.
