Overspray all over trike!

Last week, I was getting ready to leave work, and a group email was released... there was a contractor painting one of our large tanks about 1/2 mile from the parking areas, and they had an equipment failure, combined with a wind shift, and covered the vehicles in our lot with white overspray. Since my TG is black, it really stands out:AGGHH:.

While their insurance is supposed to be handling the claims, we still have not heard anything, and most of the vehicles involved are cars and trucks, not bikes with lots of chrome and leather exposed. I am looking to be prepared to handle this, so I am looking for any feedback from anyone who has had to deal with any sort of repair/restoration on their own, and what techniques they may have had success with.

Stay right on them

Never leave up on the contractor they are insured for such things. Stay on them make sure your company knows of over spray and let them know what needs to happen! don't let the contractor even think he will get away with it, let them (Contractor)know you have friends to help you recover your losses. Hand the project Manager a repair estimate ASAP! :gah:ride safely fearless

Get a quote and lots of good photos to document everything. It will take a while since it got the whole parking lot. Had it happen to my uncle. He stsyed with em. If I remember right it took the insurance company close to a month to act. Then all they did was tell everyone to take the cars and trucks to a body shop of their choice.

Working at Texaco Refinery in Lawrenceville Illinois I had my truck sprayed several times. Also a black Suzuki Lowrider. The insurance company for the contractor would send a bunch of adjusters around. Do what dirtdobber said and document, save a lot of problems some time. Would take to my favorite Body Shop and get estimates, helps.
Worked there 16 years and then 7 more for another company who bought it. Now has been torn down and Chevron cleaning it up for the rest of our lives. Damned EPA.

Well, I guess I need to get a few estimates from shops of my coosing instead of waiting to be told to take it to someone who has no experience with detailing a bike!

You have to be very proactive on something like this. Get the estimates and I'd be finding out who the insurance company is for the company having the spraying done. I'd file claim with their insurance and this would be sure to keep the ball rolling. They'll do a good job of staying on top of the contractor because they don't want to be out of pocket $$$$$ something a contractor did. Just remember that contractor is an agent of the company having the work done.

UPDATE

Just found out this morning that they are bringing in a detailer to work on the vehicles at our work location. Not sure I like this idea, since I have no control over what is done! The email notice says to provide you phone # so they know how to contact you when they are ready for your keys; I told them no way I was giving my keys to someone I didn't know anything about!:gah:
