no, my name isnt ambitious, its chris, im 17 and live in London UK :)

dont let my age put you off, im not a normal 17 year old :p i hope to get into automotive engineering in one of the top universitys in the country (Warwick).

as for trikes, i dont own one at the moment but i should by this time next year. i want to impress universitys and, well, everyone and show that i can design a fully functioning, road legal trike...

i know the requirements to make it road legal (the MSVA rules set here in the UK) and im pretty confident i can build a trike capale of passing them.

i havent done my first deisngs for a trike, but i can show you my previous work with my other hobby (radio controlled cars)

Black Diamond rc
a rocket powerd RC project ^^

My Rc Designs
3 other random designs i came up with ^^

they where all done last febuary/march time. since then i have learnt solidworks alot more...

White Nova
my first few goes at designing a car ^^

my trike design will have 2 wheels at the front and one rear motorbike wheel with motorbike engine... first pics will be in the next few days :)

thanks
chris

Wow Chris, you've got some serious creativity going there! I can't wait to see your ideas for your trike build! Make sure you take lots of pictures as you progress, and post them in an album on your profile page so we can follow along.

Also, we have several mechanical engineers who are members here as well as many, many experienced mechanics and trike builders. Feel free to ask questions and bounce your ideas off them. You may get some advice or input that helps you streamline your own ideas! Welcome to TrikeTalk! :)

dont worry, i will have pics up of my first (very basic) chassis design up shortly :)

Welcome Chris - What CAD program are you running?

solidworks student 09

though it was a free trial from solidworks, which seemed to have lasted a year and a half... it says it is expireing in 12 days.... but im sure it said that a few months ago and it just renewed itself

We have someone else doing pretty much the same thing on here I just can't remember who . I think it's in the OTHER trike section. Look up " michealplogue " article... He has some ideas that follow close to yours . He is in Turkey

welcome aboard Chris. It's nice to have your views join the group. Your ideas will be great to watch become real. Thank you for joining us.

Solidworks is 100% easyer than anything else i have tried, i 100% recomend it and there are a few built in tutorials and loads of online ones to help, well worth the money...

i have made my first (very rough) design of my trike so you can have an idea of what it will look like.

http://s455.photobucket.com/albums/qq276/kwik-kid/?action=view&current=trike01.jpg

the rear end where the engine is is going to be a motorbike frame (with engine gearbox etc and wheel) bolted onto the back of my chassis (the rear wheel and engine in my picture is only so you can see the size comparison...

the person in my model is based on a 6ft tall medium build (about what i am) so i use him (todd) to judje height of the chassis and width (aswell as measuring around me

the next one is going to be quite bit different, and a lot nicer as this was only done quickly and roughly to show you the sort of thing i am designing.

thankyou for looking
chris

Welcome and nice work Chris. I won't hold your age against you, I was 17 once. Many, many moons ago. :D However I do kind of begrudge the fact that you can do all that fancy stuff with a computer at age 17 and I still have to get my daughters help to download pics. out of my camera. Keep up the good work, you'll go far!
