Just picked my 2003 1800 Roadsmith today after having a 6 degree rake kit installed. Steering is 100% improved but headshake about 80% improved. I'm satisfied b/c my front tire is very dated & old (still tread) & a rear shock is leaking. So, I didn't expect 100% on both. Also I noted the handle bars seem farther forward. Rake kit is from Bazooka and professional installer said it's a great kit. :Dorag:

Thanks for the report Hocky. I think you will find that the front tire is going to be the headshake culprit, but make sure that the installer torqued the steering stem nut to 35-40 lbs. Stock roller bearings call for 35lbs, with the new tapered bearings I run mine at 40. Also make sure you are running max recommended air pressure in your front tire which is 41lbs.

Yep, I mentioned that to him before I had him do the install! The day I left my bike he had 3 trikes lined up, did mine the next day.
And thanks for the reply...........:Dorag:

The handlebar position is a product of the rake kit. I ended up installing MBL risers to bring mine back up to normal height. I noticed that I was pushing down nearly as much as out while steering and that was causing my shoulders to really ache. Getting the bar ends back up where most of the effort is directed out has made the steering even easier.

MBL risers bring the bar ends up and in. If you just want up then I'd look at the Kuryakan risers. Don't have any experience with them so I can't tell you the exact difference. :xszpv::xszpv:
