13 tri leaking seat

on a trip from northern ontario canada to montana we were caught in several rain storms, after stoping i noticed a lot of water coming out of bottom of the seat so i removed the seat and it was twice its normal weighed, hung it up in motel room over night water poured out.still very wet the next day.road 6000 miles and seat stayed wet to some degree.checked with my dealer and they said that the moco. would not replace the seat and that iwould have to call customer service at harley head office, and i was told"customers of hd have to be aware that our seats do take in water" therefore it is not covered.also the radio stopped working early in the trip and i was told it would be replaced with a "refurbisd unit" not a new one.after many phone calls to hd they are going to try and replace the seat as i feel the plastic liner under the seat cover is comprimised.has any one had this problem, kevin at dk customs who made the alaska trip did you have any wet seat issues?

Ride in enough rain and the seat will take on water, my dad has removed his seat on more than one occasion and find water dripping out of it when stood on end. The seat cover is stitched, the stitching isn't water proof, that is where the water comes from. A refurb radio is also normal, I had one installed in my 06 Ultra when it was less than 1 year old and the radio took a dump.

my seat has been hanging for 5 days and has acumulated 3 quarts of water and counting.i have owned over 30 motorcycles in my life time the last 8 bikes new hds (some were my wifes) none have leaked like this, yes i understand they leak at seams. not like this itook photos and sent them to hd,

Every seat I have taken apart to do changes to in the past had plastic film between any foam and outside cover. On one occasion, I left plastic off foam when recovering, same thing you are describing happened. Sounds like you have no barrier between cover and foam. They will not know unless they look. And yes, they need to repair / replace and next scooter needs to be bought at another dealer.

Just replaced my '10 TG seat after 70k miles. Never had any real issue with water getting in it. And I rode in some real monsoon's. Only replaced because I squished it flatter than a spider running across my field of vision. Not replaced with an HD seat, though. So we will see how almost new Diamond seat does. It did raise me up a couple inches higher. Seeing easily over windshield again.

dennis my dealer is doing what they can and has told me today that they will take care of me no matter what the mocos policy is.

That is a Good thing. I thought it sounded like they were leaving you out to "dry" on your own with Mother Harley.

All the Road Zepplin seats I've bought came with a rain cover. I forget to use it about 90% of the time. :(

Only use it when the bike is parked - when riding, I'm the cover. :D

I never got a cover with the Zep I installed on the 2010 I had, I wonder if someone was having a bad day and forgot to include it.
