Lehman Problem

My 2013 GW w/Lehman solid axle conversion has a problem, and it's happened twice in about 6 months. It has been stripping the bolts where the drive shaft connects to the axle (at least I think that's where it's happening). No one seems to have any idea why this is happening, and Lehman has been quick to fix what's broken, but until we find out why, I fear this will just continue.

I have noticed that my trike has a lot more ground clearance than other trikes, and I wonder if maybe this is causing an alignment problem. I've posed this question to my dealer (who is great), and when my tech returns next Tuesday they will see what he thinks.

My question to the Forum is, Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Lehman tells me I'm the only one they've heard of.

You may have a driveshaft out-of-phase causing binding at either end. This could loosen up the bolts at the rear end. Perhaps a twisted driveshaft. Have the installer dealer check that too.

I have limited experience with this but my first guess would be that the drive shaft is out of round, for whatever reason.
Second thought is that the trike isn't level. Hence, drive shaft not flush to differential.

Just guessing.

Someone posted on here not long ago with a similar problem.Don't know if this could be a source of your problem but maybe worth having checked.
The large nut on the rear driveshaft yoke had been found backed off and loose.I believe it was causing a vibration which if not found could have led to bolts breaking.
Just a suggestion,don't remember which kit it was.

Update on resolving my problem. I heard from the Manager at my dealer yesterday that Lehman is going to replace the entire rear end. This is what I was hoping for. They are going to fix the problem, and not just repair the broken parts.

Good for Lehman, they stand behind their product.

Glad to hear your good news. That is one nice thing about most of these conversions companies; they seem to stand behind their products.
