ABS Brakes on Goldwing Trike

Most of the kits disable the ABS.

Very true.

I know all of the positive reasons for having ABS. Call me "Old School", but I prefer standard braking. I just feel more in control and like the option of locking up those rear brakes if I have to, or want to. Just my preference,,,.

My '05 GL1800 CSC Cobra has ABS. Had the tires squawking (but didn't lock them up) when I had to bring it down hard from about 45 mph to avoid running over a skateboarder who swerved in front of us and then dumped.

Here's what CSC has to say in their brochure:
The brakes are completely integrated with the O.E.M Linked Braking System and we are the only trike manufacturer to offer full ABS integration.

I believe that ABS braking is one of the foremost safety features coming our way and am thankful that most vehicles come equipped with it.

Personally I'm surprised that anyone would buy a motorcycle without it - IMHO!
Not entirely true.

CSC and DFT keep the ABS.

I would eliminate any manufacturer that disables ABS.

Skidding is not as big a factor with a TRIKE but you pretty much eliminate it with ABS.

I have it on my 07 CSC.
What's part of my statement "Most of the kits disbable the ABS" isn't true? You mentioned two kits that keep ABS out of how many trike kits out there...

I believe most of the kits at least provide the option at a nominal cost. Personally it's not so important on a trike but I have it and don't expect to need it. If i do then I will be glad to have it.

I'm not sure CSC maintains the ABS braking system with their trike kits. They certainly do keep the unified braking system and many do not, but I had a 2004 Wing with a CSC kit installed in 2012 and never saw anything in the literature that mentioned anything about keeping the ABS function available on their kits.

For $150 CSC will set up your Cobra, Cobra XL, or Viper kit to keep the Honda ABS if so equipped before conversion. If you don't find it in the description or price list then it probably is not going to happen... If you are really interested in a particular kit then a call to their factory will verify the existence or lack there of.... :xszpv::xszpv:

Thanks for the question and opportunity to clarify.
Hannigan Motorsports Gl1800 Trike conversions (both Gen 1 & Gen 2) have ALWAYS retained the ABS at NO additional cost or upcharge.

Any additional questions, please see or ask in the "Hannigan Information Desk" Thread within the HMS Sponsor Section.

Happy and Joyful Memorial Day Weekend to All!
