HI FOLKS:

I HAVE A LINE ON A HARLEY MOTOR IN KIRKWOOD MISSOURI.

THE GUY WHO HAS IT WANTS $200.00 TO BUILD A CRATE FOR IT, I WOULD HAVE TO ARRANGE SHIPPING TO CASPER, WYOMING 82604

 DOES ANY ONE HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHO MIGHT HAVE THE CHEAPEST SHIPPING RATES OUT YOUR WAY?

I BELIEVE THE GUY IS WILLING TO TAKE IT TO THE SHIPPER FOR ME?

(I HOPE SO HE SEEMS TO BE PRETTY PROUD OF HIS BOXES?)

THE DETAILS OF THIS TRANSACTION SEEM TO GET MORE COMPLICATED ALL THE TIME.

PC,

Go online to UShip. Have used them before and very safe, trustworthy, and reliable. It's kinda like ebay where different LTL Carriers and Agents Bid on your shipment. Never had any negative experience or issue with them or the Carriers who win.

Small fees and when all said and done, much cheaper than the Usual Suspects. The transaction runs through UShip so the Carrier or their Agent never see your financial info or card numbers and they don't get the money released to them until the job is done to your satisfaction.

Here is the motor i just bought.cowboy- yehaaw.gif

Brand new purcased in 1999 has all the papers from the factory.

Never been installed in a bike.

Was bought to build a bobber and the project never took place.

I plan to put an E-27 cam in it before i put it in my trike smiles-twerking cat.gif

Do you want me to go take a look at it & the crate before it ships, Kirkwood is just down the road from me. The Kirkwood area is not unfamiliar to me, I would be happy to put eyes on the engine for you if there is time before it gets shipped. Let me know if I can help.

Maybe this cheap crate will help, it's what I did for packin it. But I delivered it myself.

I bought the HD motor stand to fit the motor for $59.00, and bolted the stand to the motor.

Then I took a 2 wheel dolly and wraped a shipping blanket on the dolly and set the motor on it.

I strapped it to the dolly but only touching the blanket.

Then I strapped the dolly to the pick-up truck bed, behind the cab.

Worked great and didn't build a crate.

After I dropped off the motor, I recovered my straps and dolley.

Just more or different ideas for ya to ponder.

Later, eighty80.

what C.I. is your new engine, is it all stock inside or has there been work done to help that cam you're putting in? pepper

This a bone stock, straight out of the factory, plain old, run of the mill, common garden variety 80" - 1340 cc. evo.

I actually love that!
They are pretty bullet proof.

There has been no work done on the engine. The E-27 Cam is just one step hotter than stock so nothing need be done to Accommodate it.
It is just going to boost power a tad . I put that same cam in my old engine 25 years ago and am pretty pleased with it's performance over the years.
That set up pulled my old trike at 90 m.p.h. top end and i seldom wished for any more performance.
hell if it works, don't fix it you know?

I have never had to do any major work on my old motor.ThumbUp
91,000 miles isn't bad for an old Harley motor? It still runs strong but has developed oil leaks under the cylinder heads.
I just couldn't see rebuilding the top end to gain another 20,000 or so out of it without doing the bottom end. Besides a fresh top might just might take out the bottom end you know?:p

Kirkwood is about 150miles north of me . looks like you got a good offer from another that's a lot closer than me . good luck with the transplant.

If that goes as well as the engine find i will be a happy pappy.ThumbUp
