Can Am vs. Goldwing

The 2014s are getting a inline 3cyl 1330cc motor they are claiming gets much better fuel economy and better torque.

when they get fuel milage sorted out and high maitenance cost as well ..then maybe I would think of buying one.

New 1330 RT
First service at 3,000 miles, not 600 like the wing
Oil changes after that are 9300 miles, wing is 8,000
Valve adj, none, wing 32,000 miles
Air filter change remove one panel, about a 15 minute job. wing about a 2 hour job.
MPG on the new RT 1330 is said to be 36mpg. Wing after triking, 33 mpg.

The Can Am also runs $10,000 to $15,000 less than a triked wing.

Comparing the old RT costs vs. a wing. Wing wins
New RT costs vs. wing, New RT wins

Interesting about the Wing 1st service, my 2012's was at 8,000 miles according to the dealer and the service manual from Honda.

Did I hear the first service on the Can Am was $350? Of course I have to give the thumbs up on the air filter change to the Can Am. Honda could not have hidden that frikkin air filter any better.

Not bad, not bad at all, and a loaner as well. ThumbUp Sure can't fault that. Can't see the Trike Shop doing that, or the Honda Shop. Had some warranty work done at the Trike Shop Daytona which took about 5 hours, I asked for a loaner to putt putt around, that the attitude of, "well, if that's what you want, maybe we could find something"......After that subliminal message, I just thought 'screw it', I'll walk around the area.

I owned a Spyder RTS and now ride a Harley Tri-Glide (with a Road King in between). Apples and oranges; the RTS was a Porsche, the Tri-Glide a Corvette.
Gas mileage on the Spyder was not the greatest, the search for a gas station started @ 100 miles (as opposed to about 160 on the Harley).
At the end of the day it's personal preference.
Best of luck!

My RT Spyder gets 29.3 miles per gallon average for the past nearly 2000 miles running regular 87 and the 2014 Triglide owner's report it's about the same mpg running premium. The Spyder fuel tank is larger than the triglide by almost a gallon. Excluding sparse and unknown gas station availability, I only fillup after My trip odometer clicks 150 miles.

It's interesting you said that. When I was trike shopping, the Honda cycle dealership I went to, well, they just didn't seem much interested that I was even shopping and it took forever to get a bike out for a test ride. They had Can Ams there too. Guess their dual dealing.

I think you'll find out one day that the spyders gas tank is 6gal, not the advertized 6.6 gal... Being a former owner i can attest to that..
And my T/G gets 38 highway...Just saying..

Congrats, maybe once the '14 TG owners figure which cam & piston upgrades makes the wet-head motor purr, they too can achieve 38 mpg's ThumbUp

I do not speak with "first hand knowledge," however, I have HEARD that the Can Cam has one computer that controls the entire bike. If a bulb burns out, the bike will slow down to 30 mph until you get the problem fixed??? Have only known one person who owned a Spyder and it stayed in the shop more than on the road. Gold Wings are good, dependable bikes. I would go with the Wing.
