Help with luggage rack

Wife and I are thinking about going camping next weekend and was wondering about how much we can put on the rack without ruining the tour pac. We have the Air Wing pn#79179-08. Thinking 2 cots and a tent.

I don't know how much weight is ok, but I do know. If it's loaded, be careful when opening it, and don't open it all the way up. It stresses the wall on the tour pak in the hinge area. Can and will crack it.
I have a 2003 SE RK tour pak hanging on the garage wall as a reminder.

Most of them state no more than 25 lbs, as j79phan states you have to be careful with the tour-pak if you open it up you could stress it enough to crack it in the hinge area.

I tend to overload my rack and then use ratcheting straps to keep it from bouncing. Haven't cracked cover yet. That said, on my '04, I did crack cover. Its the potholes that get you by jarring everything violently.

If you have a receiver hitch,get a hitch rack,they can hold much more weight.Very handy.

It says right on the luggage rack, no more than 10#s. We have used double that many times. Just take the time to take off your luggage before opening.

You must have the same model Smart Bride I do. Riding and camping are two different activities not to be combined. Motels for us also.

If you do ever camp ditch the cots and use an air mattress.

Exactly. I haven't slept in a tent for over 30 years and ain't about to start now. My last trip our room had a jacuzzi. Now that's how to relax after a long day in the saddle.

keep the cots ,put the air matters on top .that way u don't haft too get up off the ground.
