Carfax ?

Car fax runs the VIN against public records so I would think it would be beneficial.

I went to both web sites (carfax AND cyclechex) typed in my vin. The next step is to pay. I did not. But if you do, it should return any public information on record for that VIN number. I have not used cyclechex but have used carfax for a couple of cars. I do not see why it should not work for a bike.

Another thing you could do, is request to see the Title, and see if it has anything like "salvage or Rebuildable". They often total bikes and trikes out for sheet metal, and fiberglass damage, which really does not affect the mechanics.
Mileage and condition will tell you a lot......but a through inspection by a mechanic would be good as well

The problem I'm having is trying to find a bike on line. None of the ones I want is in my state. A lot in Texas or Ohio. I can't keep driving to look at the them. Hell I'd spend all my $$ on travel. Now if their from a Harley shop. I feel a little bit better about it. But some are from speed shops :( So are repo's ( I think) PLUS you know like most. PICTURES LIE!! & do some salesmen! Just to make a sale. And the prices some of these dudes want for their older bikes , Their drinking some bad sh**. They can keep their bike. :). Ok thanks for all the answers ThumbUp

Try asking some one from this site that might live close to your possible buy to go take a look at it. Just a thought.

yeah Ted I thought about that also. There are a lot of members in Texas. Just might do that. I used to belong to a Chevelle club here in Minn. And I did it for a member in another state. Even had my cell phone with me at the time and he could see what I was looking at or talking about. Worked out good for both parties. Good Idea ThumbUp
